Target: Brad Goldberg, President of Animal Welfare Trust
Goal: Support the Animal Welfare Trust’s efforts to address the systemic problems that result in animal abuse.
The Animal Welfare Trust is dedicated to protecting the welfare of animals by using strategies that have a long-term impact. While it is important to focus on the rights of each and every animal, the Animal Welfare Trust also keeps in mind the big picture in order to make the world a better place for animals – and the people who care about them – many years down the line. Sign this petition to support the enduring changes that the Animal Welfare Trust is helping to foster.
The Animal Welfare Trust is guided by its belief in the grounding principle that “animals have rights to experience a life of respect, free from unnecessary suffering.” One of the biggest impediments that prevent this principle from being realized is the fact that our society internalizes a set of cultural norms that contradict this goal. In our modern society, animals are often viewed as objects, not as living, breathing beings. They are seen purely as a source of food, and so their welfare is disregarded. They are considered to be mere pieces of property, and so malfeasances against them often go unpunished. Animal Welfare Trust tries to change these cultural norms by funding innovative projects that are on a mission to make a change.
Dear Mr. Goldberg, President of Animal Welfare Trust,
In our modern society and culture, animals are often seen as objects, not as living beings capable of experiencing pain and abuse. In fact, all too many animals know how true this is, firsthand. However, the Animal Welfare Trust directly addresses this problem by funding programs that change the way society sees, understands and treats animals. The passion that drives the Animal Welfare Trust has attracted support from all corners of the country, causing it to be one of the most successful animal advocacy programs in the United States.
An example of one of the Animal Welfare Trust’s programs is the National Center for the Prosecution of Animal Abuse, overseen by the National District Attorney’s Association. One of the main reasons why animal abuse continues to be a problem is because of the lack of action taken against perpetrators. This program is helping to solve that problem by bringing more animal abusers to justice. Please continue to create more programs like this one, and to continue the incredible work you are already undertaking.
