Suspend Animal Park Owner for Non-Compliance with Animal Welfare Regulations

Target: Tom Vilsak, Secretary of Agriculture, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)

Goal: Shut down zoo that has been repeatedly cited for improper animal care and unlawful facilities

Zoos and animal parks that are repeatedly recorded as having broken laws, endangered visitors, and mistreated animals should not be allowed to remain open. In South Carolina there is an animal park called Myrtle Beach Safari which is also connected with T.I.G.E.R.S. Preservation Station. Both of these sites, owned and operated by Bhagavan Antle, a repeated animal rights offender, must be closed, and Mr. Antle should be put on probation until he can clean up his record.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has been recording the activities of Bhagavan Antle since 1986. In the span of 28 years, Antle has been documented 68 times. His offenses range from failing to maintain structurally sound housing facilities, failing to provide proper veterinary care, failure to maintain proper animal records, exhibiting wild exotic animals without the proper license, and a slew of other indiscretions.

Bhagavan Antle has been given too much leeway to continue his dangerous and inhumane animal care practices. It is time to tell the USDA to act. Tell USDA Secretary of Agriculture to close down Antle’s facilities and prohibit him from continued illegal actions.

Dear Secretary Vilsak,

The USDA has a responsibility to protect animals and enforce animal protection, safety, and care laws. For 28 years the USDA has been recording illegal and non-compliant actions of Bhagavan Antle. He has not kept proper records, allegedly removes tiger cubs from their mothers and uses them for photo opportunities before the stipulated 8 week old age, does not maintain safe facilities, and does not provide proper care for his animals — and the list goes on.

Antle’s antics must be stopped. It is clear that he does not comply with standing laws, blatantly disregards the safety of his animals and visitors, and exploits animals to an unreasonable and illegal degree. I urge you to take action and close down Antle’s facilities as well as remove Antle’s licensure and put him on a probationary watch list. If Antle cannot comply with the laws of the USDA and ensure proper facilities and care for his animals, he has no business owning an animal park.

  1. Vilsak is a joke. He does nothing. Really???? Since 1986? Antle needs some prison time, like he has been imprisoning these beautiful creatures. I am sure there are payoffs involved. I hope they both get what they have coming!!!! Sooner than later!!!#

Agree with you on all counts. But Vilsack is not a joke, unfortunately he is in a position of power to use as he sees fit….or not to use.Wonder how much it takes to get his attention and then his approval?

  2. Kathy Khoshfahm says:

This Park Owner should be fired, not suspended, for non-compliance. I’m sure he will offend again if he thinks he can get away with it. He does not have the animal’s best interests at heart and should not be in the business of caring for animals…

  3. For 28 years the USDA has been recording illegal and non-compliant actions of Bhagavan Antle. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO TAKE ACTION???? Do not suspend him FIRE HIM instead
