Target: President Obama
Goal: Protect our public lands from polluters like the Koch brothers who want to open new areas to destructive mining.
President Obama has established more new national monuments than any president in history, but there is still work left to be done. Congress keeps trying to undermine laws that protect our lands and polluters like the Koch brothers are gunning to open new areas to destructive mining.
Environmental advocates around the country are urging President Obama to keep protecting our lands and establish Utah’s Bears Ears region, El Paso’s Castner Range, the Gold Butte region in Nevada, and the area surrounding the Grand Canyon as national monuments.
We have already seen President Obama is willing to act, but only if we raise our voices loud enough. Sign the petition asking the president to build on America’s conservation legacy and designate these four new national monuments.
Dear President Obama
We love our parks. As we mark the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, I want to thank you for protecting so many of our public lands and defending our environment.
From the Cesar Chavez National Monument in Keene to Stonewall National Monument in New York City, you have ensured our most treasured places are safe for future generations to enjoy. But I know you can do more!
Four remarkable places in the United States need immediate protection and you are their best chance. I urge you to establish national monuments in Utah’s Bears Ears region, El Paso’s Castner Range, Nevada’s Gold Butte region, and expand protections in the Greater Grand Canyon area. Please build on your impressive legacy by designating these parks before the end of your administration.
