Please consider refiling the charges and reopen the case 51-2016-CR-00906 for the People of North Dakota vs Darnell Hankel

Target: Ward County, Minot North Dakota State’s Attorney Rozanna C. Larson,

Please consider refiling the charges and reopen the case 51-2016-CR-00906 for the People of North Dakota vs Darnell Hankel.

Sixty-three-year-old Darnell Hankel faced a felony charge of animal cruelty which was dismissed even though there was supporting evidence of his crime; written and video confessions. Darnell Hankel willingly murdered by strangulation a miniature daschund named Bluebell. Bluebell had a skin rash and was under veterinarian care, she was not terminally ill.
Ward County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Hankel in April. Court records indicate that Hankel admitted to investigators that he strangled a family dog to death in April 2014. The complaint indicates that Hankel claimed he grew tired of taking care of the family pet because it developed a skin rash.

This violent pet murderer should be brought to justice and given the maximum penalty so that he can’t hurt any more innocent pets again. That’s why we ask that you help see to it that this man is given the most severe penalty for the pain and suffering he inflicted upon an innocent pet.

Why is the States Attorneys office in Minot so reluctant to uphold the new 2013 Felony Animal Cruelty Law? Our taxpayers dollars voted you in Rozanna Larson, and we can also vote you out for dereliction of duty in refusing to enforce the law! Richard Hagar is the worst do-nothing judge that I have ever encountered. He was suspended without pay in 2014 for failing to properly handle his case load. So now, in order not to fall behind and get suspended again, he simply pushes cases through without in reading them! He seems complete unaware of the new laws! What a miscarriage of justice!! And shame on Tom Slorby, the defense attorney in this case!

I cannot believe they let him go after such a Gridley animal murder. They should take his mouth and nose shut and throw him in a trash bin. Funny how he didn’t contact police or animal normal careing people would.
