Target: William Harvey, Police Chief of Ephrata, Pennsylvania
Goal: Seek the maximum sentence for man who allegedly left a dog to die in his truck.
A dog died after being carelessly left and forgotten in a vehicle, according to reports. Police say that 20-year-old Justin Martin was transporting the dog for a relative when he went into a store for about 45 minutes. The poor dog spent that time suffering under a tarp in the bed of the truck. A witness noticed a dog in distress and called police. The officers attempted to cool the dog down and took it to a veterinarian, but they were unable to save the animal.
Martin was charged with animal cruelty and will receive a court summons. This careless form of animal cruelty causes unnecessary suffering and death to millions of pets. There’s no reason for these animals to be tossed into vehicles and left to die when people are fully aware of the dangers.
It’s clear that humans aren’t going to stop killing animals this way unless the consequences are too great to risk it. Please help bring this dog justice and prevent others from dying due to human carelessness by signing this petition demanding that authorities put a stop to this, starting with this case.
Dear Chief Harvey,
An innocent dog suffered and died as a result of a careless human leaving the animal in a vehicle. According to police, Justin Martin went into a store for nearly an hour, forgetting that he left a relative’s pet in his truck. Officers tried cooling the animal off before sending it to a veterinarian, but the poor dog later died.
Animals are constantly dying from being left in vehicles, yet people still don’t seem to care enough to stop doing it. We urge you to help put a stop to this senseless animal cruelty by seeking the maximum sentence possible for Mr. Martin if he’s found guilty.
