Target: Art Acevedo, Austin Police Chief
Goal: Ensure that the man who allegedly killed a puppy with rubbing alcohol is given a harsh penalty and banned from owning animals.
A man reportedly fed his 3-month old puppy a bottle of rubbing alcohol, killing the American Blue Heeler mix, named Kano. Joshua Fortier and his girlfriend Kayla Reed reportedly adopted the puppy from a rescue group only for Reed to come home one day and find the puppy’s lifeless body floating in a tub of water with an empty bottle of rubbing alcohol near his water bowl.
According to court documents, Fortier left and flagged down a police officer telling him that he’d just killed his dog by feeding it rubbing alcohol and that he’d smoked marijuana and taken LSD. A neighbor says that he heard Kano crying and then Fortier walked into his apartment naked unannounced. Fortier still remains at large, although a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
This bizarre, disturbing behavior could be blamed on the alleged drugs Fortier was on, but it doesn’t excuse the brutal murder of an innocent puppy, and it doesn’t guarantee that it won’t happen again. Animals need to be protected from people who are suspected of killing them. Demand that he be harshly punished and permanently banned from owning animals, if found guilty for this crime.
Dear Mr. Acevedo,
A man reportedly killed his puppy by feeding him a bottle of rubbing alcohol. He allegedly admitted his crimes to an officer, but he’s still on the loose.
This violent person should be apprehended immediately before more animals are harmed. Please ensure that this man is punished harshly and also permanently banned from owning animals so that no more suffer the torture that he allegedly inflicted upon his puppy.
