Target: Jimmy Gunn, Supervisor on Tippah County Board of Supervisors
Goal: Cancel the cruel “rabbit scramble” event in which children chase after trapped, terrified rabbits.
Rabbits are trapped in an enclosed area while frantic children chase after them until they catch one of the terrified animals in an event called the “rabbit scramble,” hosted by the Tippah County Fair in Mississippi.
These rabbits have no idea of the chaos that is about to happen when they are put into the enclosed area. Before they know it, they are being chased by loud and scary humans. In addition to the mental trauma of this event, it can also lead to serious physical injury. Rabbits are very delicate creatures and children tend not to be the most delicate, especially in such a hectic environment.
After this terrifying ordeal, the rabbits are sent home with the children who caught them. Typically, these families are unprepared for the responsibilities of owning a rabbit. Often they are brought to shelters, left out in the wild, or are just neglected.
Sign this petition and demand the rabbit scramble event is cancelled. These animals do not deserve to be treated with such little respect.
Dear Mr. Gunn,
The Tippah County Fair is planning on hosting an event called “rabbit scramble.” During this event, rabbits will be put into an enclosed area for children to chase and catch.
To the rabbits, the children pursuing them are large, loud, terrifying creatures. These rabbits hop around frantically as the chaos unfolds around them. Due to the chaos and rough children, this event can lead to serious physical injury. Rabbits are delicate creatures and should be treated as such.
After this terrifying ordeal, the rabbits are brought home with the children who caught them. Many families bring these animals home unprepared for the responsibilities of owning a rabbit. Often times these rabbits are neglected, brought to a shelter, or left out in the wild.
Please consider canceling this event. These animals deserve better than likely injury and death.
