Preserve Important Prairie Dog Habitat

Prairie Dog Huskyherz

Target: Suzanne Jones, Mayor of Boulder, Colorado

Goal: Preserve the National Guard Armory site for wildlife and historic significance.

The National Guard Armory site in Boulder, Colorado is home to a large colony of prairie dogs. However, developers are planning to build 200 housing units on this land which would greatly disturb the prairie dogs.

Prairie dogs are very social animals who live in groups. They are known for their intricate and unique burrowing system that is essential to the environment. These burrows are not only home to the prairie dogs, but also to swift foxes and black-footed ferrets.

If these housing units are constructed, the prairie dogs will be forced to relocate or possibly even killed. This would be harmful to the entire surrounding ecosystem, in addition to being morally questionable. In addition, the National Guard Armory Site is over 50 years old and has historic significance. Sign this petition and demand officials preserve this land.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mayor Jones,

The National Guard Armory site is home to numerous prairie dogs and has been standing for over 50 years. This site is crucial to the ecosystem and holds historic significance. Despite this, developers are planning to build 200 housing units on this land.

Prairie dogs are very social animals who live in family groups. They are known for their intricate and unique burrowing system that is essential to the environment. These burrows not only help prairie dogs but also other animals including the endangered black-footed ferret and the swift fox.

Please consider preserving the National Guard Armory site. Humans continue to build and build and soon these animals will have no where to go. It is time we start taking care of this earth.

Sincerely,
