Target: Keith R. Sadler, Lancaster City Chief of Police
Goal: Charge the breeder responsible for leaving a puppy in critical condition before surrendering it to an animal rescue.
A young puppy was surrendered to an animal shelter in life-threatening condition, yet the breeder responsible for neglecting the animal has not been charged. Rescuers report that the sickly 4-month-old Boston Terrier, named Libre, was emaciated, dehydrated, barely breathing, and just hours from dying when he was taken from the breeder.
According to Janine Guido from the Speranza Animal Rescue, who rescued the puppy and rushed him to the vet, Libre had demodectic mange, “severe secondary skin infections,” rotting skin and maggot-infested open wounds. Moreover, the puppy was 15 pounds underweight and too weak to stand or even wag his tail. Despite his condition, Libre’s former owner has not been charged with cruelty or neglect.
Sign this petition urging authorities to take action against the person responsible for leaving a young puppy in such an appalling condition.
Dear Chief Sadler,
The person responsible for leaving a young puppy in a severe state of neglect deserves punishment. Since named Libre, the young Boston Terrier was rescued in a terrible state. He was severely emaciated, dehydrated, and suffered from painful skin infections. Rescuers report the puppy was “hours from death” and had bleeding wounds infested with maggots.
Libre was also severely underweight, weighing 15 pounds less than a dog of his age and breed should. Despite these clear signs of serious neglect, the breeder has not been punished for cruelly leaving this puppy to die in such a painful and distressing condition. Please investigate this matter and charge the person responsible for animal cruelty and neglect.
