Justice for Four Chihuahuas Found Nearly Dead in Abandoned Building

Target: Bill Montgomery, Maricopa County Attorney

Goal: Punish man for neglecting four dogs to a point where they were near death and one had to be euthanized.

Four chihuahuas were recently found in an abandoned building, severely dehydrated and near death. One dog was found locked in a crate, while three more were found roaming the building. They apparently belonged to a homeless man who was squatting in the building. The man, who claimed he forgot the dog was in a coop and forgot to feed them, is facing four felony counts of animal cruelty and neglect.

The dogs were first discovered by a passerby, who reported the scene to authorities. When a trauma team arrived, it was found that the caged dog was suffering from a high fever, and was unable to stand, walk, or even hold its own head up. All of the dogs were starved and dehydrated, while one had to be put down after displaying signs of brain damage consistent with distemper, a fatal condition that is preventable by vaccine but incurable once contracted.

No food or water was found left for the dogs at the scene. First responders say that the dogs drank continuously when presented with water at the scene. Thy were then transported to the Humane Society’s Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital for examination and quarantine. Fortunately, the three remaining dogs are expected to recover.

This type of neglect, whether intentional or not, is unacceptable. Had concerned citizens not intervened, it is likely that these four dogs would be dead. Sign the petition below to ask that the person responsible is appropriately punished.

Dear Mr. Montgomery,

Four starved, severely dehydrated dogs were recently found in abandoned building without food or water. One was locked in a crate and was so weak that it could not stand, walk, or lift its head. It had a high fever and showed signs of brain damage consistent with distemper, a disease preventable by vaccination but incurable once contracted. It had to be put down.

Police say that the dogs belonged to a homeless man, who claimed that he forgot to feed and water the animals. The man also claimed he forgot that the first dog was locked in a crate. Regardless of whether or not this is true, these dogs suffered extreme trauma due to this neglect. We, the undersigned, demand that the person found responsible is punished appropriately.

The garbage that would harm any animal should be put to death.I always say the punishment should fit the crime.

Death too easy torture first for the scumbag

  4. Sarah Rose says:

First of all the abandoned house should have been boarded up by the town it is in so that no one would have access to it. If this had been done, the homeless man would not have been able to gain entry and neither would the dogs. He had no business taking care of any animal since he could not take care of himself. What he has done is inexcusable. There is no justification for carelessness and cruelty to animals. He should be subjected to the same punishment as every one else found guilty of animal abuse.
