Target: Tom Vilsack, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture
Goal: Stop the government-affiliated animal-murdering group “Wildlife Services.”
The United States Department of Agriculture is harboring a dark secret that is leading to the mass murder of wild animals. These hunters are called “Wildlife Services,” but the only service they provide is to the livestock and timber industries, hunting wildlife with all manner of cruel and inhumane traps including but not limited to poisons. This group has killed over 34 million animals in the last decade alone, and this number has only grown by the day.
While certain wildlife do pose danger or complications to livestock and crops, there are better ways to solve the problem than violence and slaughter. Wolves and cougars do not have to die horrible deaths just to protect farmers’ interests, nor should they die just because people find them frightening. We should be seeking out less brutal ways to protect ourselves and our livestock, such as relocating the wildlife we feel is causing trouble, or setting humane traps that will not harm them but send the message that they should not be in certain places.
There is too much of a bias against wildlife recently, treating animals as pests and predators. While some of them are indeed a problem and we cannot control what they do, killing them is not the answer. It is not fair to these animals to treat them like pests that need to be wiped out when they are living creatures, too. They have as much right to live as we do, and the government should not be funding or enabling the slaughter of all these living creatures any longer. Sign this petition to put a stop to any future mass murders of wildlife.
Dear Mr. Vilsack,
Please put a stop to the so-called “Wildlife Services” operating under your department. They are no more than merciless, poorly-trained animal killers snuffing out millions of innocent lives. While it is understandable that certain animals are considered dangerous or troublesome, they are still living creatures who do not deserve such brutality. There are much more humane ways to control their actions, such as relocation.
An organization that specializes in killing animals for the sake of people who simply want them dead, or to protect their property, is something this country does not need. Wildlife should be protected and allowed to live their lives in peace, so please put a stop to this organization and its cruel practices.
