Praise Harsh Sentence for Man Who Beat Puppy to Death

Target: Honorable Judge Kevin M. O’Connell, 227th Criminal District Court

Goal: Applaud 15 year prison sentence for man found guilty of beating puppy to death with metal rod.

A Texas man found guilty of beating a puppy to death has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, the harshest possible sentence under the law. The man, 55-year-old Gary Kennedy, was caught on camera beating an 8-month-old Shar-Pei named Briscoe with a piece of metal reinforcing bar from a construction site. He then put the body in a bag, dragged it away from the bloody scene, and disposed of it in a nearby garbage can.

Fortunately, authorities were tipped off to the crime when the ravaged body was discovered. They were able to identify Kennedy, who has several prior convictions for violent crimes, on footage taken from the construction site’s security cameras. He ended up pleading no contest to the charges against him. Because of his violent history, he was given the maximum sentence possible in order to keep him from hurting animals or humans again.

In a time where animal abusers often get off with a slap on the wrist, this decision is a refreshing change. This victory not only takes a violent offender off the streets, but sets a precedent for animal abuse in Texas. This harsh sentence will send a strong message that authorities do not take violent crimes against animals lightly, and could help deter potential animal abusers in the future. Sign the petition below to applaud this harsh sentence.

Dear Your Honor,

A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for beating an 8-month-old puppy to death with a metal rod. Gary Kennedy was caught on camera savagely killing the dog before loading its corpse into a bag and throwing it into a nearby garbage bin. Taken into consideration was the fact that Kennedy has several past convictions for violent crimes, which aided in the decision to hand down the maximum possible sentence for this cruel act.

This decision will take this dangerous offender off the streets, ensuring he cannot harm more humans or animals. It will also set a new precedent for the prosecution of violent crimes against animals. Furthermore, the harsh punishment could help deter potential animal abusers. We, the undersigned, applaud you for taking a tough stance against this senseless offender.

Honorable Judge Kevin M. O’Connell: It’s about time that an animal abuser/murderer was given a sentence that fit the crime. Thank you Judge O’Connell. Rest In Peace Briscoe.
