Demand Shut Down of Neglectful Roadside Zoo

Monkey shankar s

Target: Tom Vilsack, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary

Goal: Shut down the neglectful roadside zoo Summer Wind Farms.

Summer Wind Farms is a Michigan roadside zoo that has only shown neglect and abuse toward its animals. The zoo has been cited numerous times by the USDA for various violations against the Animal Welfare Act. Instead of cleaning up its act, Summer Wind Farms has continued to treat its animals like objects rather than living beings.

The zoo has been cited for a range of atrocities. The USDA has cited the zoo for not providing adequate veterinary care or clean water, locking a 25-week-old tiger in a small cage in a basement, failing to clean the premises, and for failed euthanasia attempts that were not performed by a veterinarian.

The atrocities at this establishment seem to never end and they won’t end unless the zoo is shut down. Sign this petition and demand the USDA shut down Summer Wind Farms.

Dear Mr. Vilsack,

A roadside zoo in Michigan named Summer Wind Farms has show only abuse and neglect toward the animals at its facility. You may recognize the name due to the outstanding number of citations the USDA has already filed against this zoo.

The USDA has already cited Summer Wind Farms for failing to provide adequate veterinary care or clean water, for locking a 25-week-old tiger in a small cage in a basement, for not cleaning the premises, and for failed euthanasia attempts that were not performed by a properly trained veterinarian. The citations continue to stack up and the zoo shows no signs of cleaning up its act.

Please shut down Summer Wind Farms. The zoo is clearly not taking your citations seriously and only continues to abuse and neglect its animals. These animals deserve so much better.

  2. Shut down the USDA! Vilsack and the USDAHas done practically nothing for any suffering animal! This is our tax dollars at work and for my money I want these people and attractions that hold animals and have been cited numerous times to be closed and the animals moved to sanctuaries. It seems Vilsack and the USDA just wants to make money by repeatedly fining abusers and then leaving the poor living creature there so they can make more revenu with repeat citations but NO REAL action! STOP the bull Vilsack!

  3. Oh I thought the USDA was incompetent or slow moving because of legal necessity. But I must admit it sure seems more like the USDA has an unethical business model. Do nothing to save or end animal suffering. Instead I bet they’re hoping for abuse to make money on fines!! USDA needs to be reorganized if this their focus.

  4. Why even issue violations if you’re not going to do something about it. You don’t seem to be able to even do your darn job. Why don’t you just step down and let someone else who really cares about animal welfare take over. It’s obvious someone is paying you off to keep looking the other way.

  5. Nancy Dunlap says:

    Mr. Tom Vilsack,

Do the right thing and shut down this despicable excuse for a zoo! These animals belong in a sanctuary that can take care of them.

  6. Beth Knafla says:

Post your comment to our government now to shut these places down.!docketDetail;D=APHIS-2012-0107
