Target: Arnold M. Alvarez-Glasman, City Attorney, Pomona, California
Goal: Punish teens who allegedly stole a goat and spray painted it as a high school “prank.”
A goat is dead after it was abducted from its home and found spray painted and left in a high school football field. According to the goat’s owner, it was taken from her home by a group of teenagers. The goat, named Baby, was found the next morning at the nearby Ganesha High School with the school’s colors marked on her fur in spray paint. A source close to Baby’s owner claimed that security footage from the school’s cameras show several students beating her.
The goat was transported immediately to a veterinary clinic, where its hair was shaved off in order to prevent the toxins in the paint from leeching in to her skin. The goat died several days later at Western University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in Pomona. According to the source, an official cause of death has not been found.
Several teenagers have already been punished by the school in relation to the incident, and the Inland Valley Humane Society has announced that it will be citing five students for animal cruelty. In addition to this, those responsible could face charges of animal cruelty, vandalism, theft, and trespassing when the police investigation concludes.
The people responsible for this callous act showed complete disregard for the goat’s health. In order to protect more animals from asinine high school “pranks,” this cruel endangerment must be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Sign the petition below to ask the prosecutor to seek the maximum possible penalties for any students found to be responsible.
Dear Mr. Alvarez-Glasman,
A golden-haired goat named Baby is dead several days after it was found on a high school football field, spray painted with the school’s colors. The goat was allegedly abducted from its enclosure by a group of teenagers. A source close to the goat’s owner claims that school security footage shows students beating the animal and handling it roughly during the ordeal.
These actions showed a blatant disregard for the welfare of the goat as well as the property of Pomona residents. Unfortunately, students across America sometimes use innocent animals in high school pranks, causing them distress and injury. In order to set an example for students everywhere, we ask that you seek to punish those found responsible to the fullest extent of the law.
