Shut Down Cruel Wool Farms

Target: Sitio Web, Minister of Agriculture, Chile

Goal: Shut down two major sheep farms accused of egregious and deliberate animal cruelty.

Two major wool farms in Chile have been accused of animal cruelty by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The American animal rights group recently released a shocking video exposé of the conditions inside the farms, which included employees kicking, beating, and otherwise abusing the animals. It has also been found that some high-end fashion companies are selling this cruelly-obtained, cheap wool fraudulently under the name of Italian wool.

Sheep in these farms face a lifetime of abuse, beginning only days after they are born. Lambs are taken from their mothers and have their tails cut off with dull knives. They then have holes punched in their ears for identification. This is all done without painkillers. They are handled extremely roughly during the shearing process, and come away with open wounds that are sprayed directly with insecticide in order to stop maggot infestation.

After this life of abuse, animals that are deemed no longer useful are killed on the same grounds. Workers use large knives to cut the throats of conscious animals and they then hold them down until they bleed out. Video shows some animals still alive and writhing in pain for several minutes after their throats are cut.

This blatant cruelty must be stopped immediately. In order to spare tens of thousands of sheep from lives of torture, Chilean officials must close these farms and increase oversight to ensure that employees engaging in animal cruelty are punished. Sign the petition below to demand that these cruel sheep farms are closed and that the animals within are transported to accredited sanctuaries.

Dear Mr. Web,

Two major Chilean wool farms have been accused of deliberate animal cruelty, including kicking and beating sheep, removing lamb’s tails without pain relief, and the euthanasia of conscious, struggling animals. An investigation by PETA also revealed that the wool from these farms is fraudulently being sold as Italian wool.

This for-profit animal cruelty must be stopped immediately in order to prevent the suffering of tens of thousands of sheep every year. We, the undersigned, demand that these facilities are closed immediately and that the sheep inside are transferred to accredited sanctuaries where they may enjoy a greatly improved quality of life.

How I hate the human species who commit these atrocities against the innocent.
    Absolutely sickening and unforgivable.
