Don’t Allow Increased Whipping of Race Horses

Horse Jeff Kubina

Target: Chuck Winner, Chairman of California Horse Racing Board

Goal: Keep current anti-whipping regulations for horse racing.

Just last year, the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) implemented a strict anti-whipping regulation. Currently, jockeys are allowed to whip their horses a maximum of three times in a row. The penalty is a mere fine, but thankfully the regulation is being enforced.

Now, the CHRB is considering allowing jockeys to whip their horses four times in succession during the last stretch of the race. Apparently, it is the jockeys who are eager to whip their horses more. It is cruel to whip these horses and to continue racing them for human entertainment.

Sign this petition and demand the anti-whipping regulations stay strict. These horses should not be whipped at all. The least we can do is keep the whipping to a minimum.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Winner,

Recently your organization, the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB), has been considering changing the current anti-whipping regulations. As of now, jockeys are allowed to whip their horses three times in a row. CHRB is now considering to let jockeys whip their horses four times during the last stretch of the race.

Please consider keeping the whipping to a minimum and to keep the current anti-whipping regulations. These horses feel pain just like you and me. They should not be treated like objects.

Racing already puts a lot of stress on horses physically and mentally. The least we can do is keep the whipping to a minimum.

Sincerely,

  1. California, I have always sung praises of your forward thinking and progressiveness, but now I’m am appalled, to say the least. Time and again it has been proven that horses should never need whipping at all and often it is counter productive to their winning. It is inhumane, nothing short of cruelty, all for the sake of money. A horse will give its heart and soul and life to please us, so why repay this with torturous pain??? No! Whipping must never ever be increased, Mr Winner, but halted altogether. Please continue to show the world your progressive stance, make horse racing a thing of fairness to all, not a barbaric sport of cruelty.

  2. ITS ENOUGH THAT THEY HAVE TO TRY TO WIN THE RACE WITHOUT TORMENT OF WHIPS TO MAKE THEM GO FASTER THEY CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH DONT PUSH THEM TO DO MORE THEY ARE WAY TOO MANY CRUEL IN HUMAN BEINGS WHO ARE USING SEDATIVES OR OTHER KIND OF TABLETS ?TRANQUILIZERS TO DOPE HORESE THEY SUFFER TOO MUCH AT THERE HANDS THIS IS WAY OUT OF LINE & IS NO EXCUSE WHY CAN A HORSE GO AT ITS OWN PACE WITHOUT THE TORTURE STOP WITH THE MEDICINES & THE WHIPS NO MORE BRUTALITY THIS HAS TO STOP NOW!!!!

As long as the jockeys are making money for rich horse owners, the Board will try to placate them. They haven’t stopped to think that they’re condoning the infliction of pain on the animals that help keep them rich. Phonies.

Chuck Winner, Chairman of California Horse Racing Board: Why would you people plan on whipping the race horses????????????? You are already abusing and torturing these horses by forcing them to run IN THE NAME OF GREED. AND NOW YOU WANT TO WHIP THEM TOO???????? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?????? I bet all of you are happy you were not born race horses and you know exactly why… SHAME ON YOU ALL.

  6. It has come to my attention that the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) has elected to contemplate the lessening of its protection for horses by weakening this state’s anti-whipping regulation less than a year after bolstering it. Why? By modifying Rule 1688, also known as the “riding crop rule” where allowing four whippings rather than three, it clearly jeopardizes the health and well-being of horses as well as posing a threat to the state’s management and guidance. It is now time to reinforce regulations, not weaken them. Please reconsider the four-strike rule. Thank you.

You Winner, I hate horseracing (and dogracings too) AND the owners AND the jockeys ! This must STOP AT ALL !! Imagine that you ‘may go’ to the Olympics and a sort of asshole is whipping you on a moped to make you run harder on 100m or 500m ?? That asshole would be directly arrested and going to prison !
So, why are jockeys doing it, all for the money for the damn rich owners !!! You don’t NEEEEEED to hit horses at AT ALL, they run hard enough anyway.
