Warn Public Not to Buy Turtles

Target: Brad Grey, CEO of Paramount Pictures

Goal: Issue a statement telling the public not to buy turtles without considering proper care.

Paramount Pictures has released the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, and many children are enthusiastic about the release. This movie will cause many children to want pet turtles. However, turtles belong in the wild and not in tanks.

Turtles are social animals who can communicate with each other. Social isolation can cause a lot of psychological stress. In addition, turtles can live very long lives and therefore require a great amount of care. In most cases, children become bored with their new pet and simply ignore the turtle or discard it.

Sign this petition and ask Paramount Pictures to make a public announcement regarding pet turtles. These animals belong in the wild where they can swim and be with their friends.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Grey,

Paramount has recently released the second Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which has put smiles on children’s faces all over. Unfortunately, this movies causes many children to want pet turtles. Turtles belong in the wild not in tanks.

Turtles are social animals who stay with their mothers for a long time and can communicate with each other. Isolation causes a lot of psychological stress for the animal. In addition, turtles can live very long lives and require a lot of care. In most cases, children quickly become bored with their new pet and simply ignore the turtle or discard it.

Please consider making an announcement warning the public not to buy turtles. These animals belong in the wild where they can truly be happy, not imprisoned in a tank.

Sincerely,

  2. Never mind buying any turtles, REGARDLESS. “PROPER” care means leaving them in the wild where they belong! And no MOTHER should even be THINKING about ripping another species’ BABIES away from their OWN mothers! Way to support the role of all the vital females of this earth, morons!

  3. I remember the original cartoon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they would have these public good will messages at the end about litter etc, why not ask Paramount to make a modern version in the film where the new TMNT talk about how they are not for pets?
