Dogs Reportedly Shot by Laughing Police Officers Deserve Justice

Target: Kym L. Worthy, Wayne County, Michigan Prosecutor

Goal: Punish police officers who allegedly killed three innocent dogs in cold blood.

Three non-threatening dogs were allegedly murdered by five police officers. We need to take action in order to ensure these officers are legally punished for this senseless crime if they are found guilty.

Officers Gaines, Paul, and Morrison, along with two other Detroit, Michigan policemen, were executing a search warrant at the home of Nikita Smith, who was suspected of possessing drugs. In order to make sure her dogs were safe, Smith put two of her dogs in the basement and one of her dogs in the bathroom. One of the dogs apparently escaped the basement and ran to go sit next to Smith, at which point an officer allegedly shot it. The officers then went down to the basement, shot another one of her dogs, and then shot the last dog through the bathroom door, according to reports. Afterwards, the officers laughed about the incident.

Demand the prosecuting attorney suggest that these police officers be punished to the fullest extent of the law if it is found that they committed this cruel and inexcusable act. Dogs that are not presenting a threat to others don’t deserve to be shot in cold blood.

Dear Prosecutor Worthy,

Several police officers allegedly killed three innocent dogs. In order to ensure other animals remain safe, it is important that these officers are legally penalized if they are found guilty of having committed this sick act.

According to reports, Officers Gaines, Paul and Morrison, as well as two other unnamed officers, drove to Nikita Smith’s house to search for narcotics. The owner claims that she locked up the dogs to make sure there were no altercations while the officers were inside her home. Shortly afterwards, one of the dogs reportedly escaped from the basement and went to go sit by his owner before allegedly being shot by one of the police officers. The officers then apparently went down to the basement to shoot another animal and shot a third dog through the bathroom door. Just as bad, they later apparently joked about killing the animals in front of the dogs’ owner, Nikita Smith.

For these reasons, I urge you to suggest that these police officers be held legally accountable for taking such actions if it is found that they committed this horrendous crime. Innocent animals don’t deserve to be shot for doing nothing more than being dogs.

  1. This is scary. It is horrible what happened to these dogs. But, it is horrible that people are no longer safe in their own home because our Constitution is becoming just a piece of paper.

    The police are being militarized.

  2. Bruce Wayne says:

It’s PIGS like these that Justify the Hatred for cops. They must Pay for this Murder of defenseless animals.

  3. Simon Wooliscroft says:

This would not happen in my country (UK). Our police don’t carry guns unless the situation requires it. These trigger-happy lunatics should loose their jobs at least. We don’t want them in the police force and what they said to the dogs owner is shocking. Are the public all USA cops punchbags now?

  4. Maria Mahyorova says:

Let’s count. There were 5 policemen. None of them stopped the others. So the percentage of civilized people in police is less than 20% – otherwise at least one of them would have trying to stop the others. And not less than 80% have no compassion.
Wow. Looks like Wayne County is a pretty dangerous place.
P.S. Or they thought dogs are drug dealers too? Have anyone ever seen a dog drugdealer?
