Dog Starved and Infested With Maggots Deserves Justice

Target: Mark Brnovich, Attorney General of Arizona

Goal: Ensure owner is charged and punished for allegedly severely neglecting a dog and nearly starving it to death.

A 14-year-old dog is receiving intensive care after reportedly being brought to a shelter by the owner, who told the staff to euthanize her. The Lhasa Apso mix was nearly starved to death and was suffering from a maggot infestation caused by matted fur that had trapped fecal matter. The matted fur was so bad that the dog wasn’t able to defecate normally. Shelter workers say they couldn’t even touch her because she had so much debris and burrs in her fur. She’s partially blind from eye infections and has dental disease. Despite the need for more surgery, including dental extractions, the dog is expected to recover.

Photos show just how much suffering this bony dog has endured. Reports say that the owner may face charges. There’s no excuse for such extreme neglect. The owner was capable of bringing her to a shelter to be euthanized, so he or she would’ve been capable of feeding the poor animal, or even finding it a new home. Please help bring this poor dog justice by urging authorities to make sure the owner is charged and given the most severe punishment possible.

Dear Mr. Brnovich,

A dog with signs of horrendous neglect was brought to a shelter to be euthanized, but is receiving intensive therapy. The dog was reportedly starved nearly to death, had a maggot infestations from matted fur and feces, and she’s partially blind from infections.

There’s no excuse for allowing her to suffer so badly and for such a long time. We urge you to help bring this innocent animal justice by giving the owner the maximum penalty possible.

There is NO excuse for anyone to abuse an innocent animal and there is never ever a reason they should get away with it. This piece of shit should not be allowed to walk the streets.

  2. 1: Someones conscience got the better of them to bring her to a vet…..
    2: Was that the accomplice?
3: Then who is the perpetrator/s?
These people must be judged as equal to or more than if this abuse was subjected on a child. Until the Courts truly prosecute to the full extent of this Law animal cruelty will continue to happen. NO more ‘slaps on the hands’… not fair to the living, breathing animals.

  6. Linda Barnett says:

There is no question whatsoever to charge this despicable person. The appalling neglect that this innocent and helpless little dog has been subjected to MUST have justice. Prosecute this evil individual and serve them with a lifetime ban from keeping ANY animal. We have to speak up for all creatures. Such cruelty and abuse is unacceptable and ALL perpetrators of such evil must be severely punished. I hope this little dog is loved and cared for in a new home where he/she can spend the remainder of his/her life.

  7. Sorry, you don’t wait until a poor animal is on its last legs because of YOUR fault and then think you’re being gracious by bringing it in to be euthanized. What kind of person is this I don’t know and don’t care, this animal’s life was made a living hell and when in old age and in need of more TLC than ever, it is dumped. This is inexcusable and the so called guardian of this poor angel needs to be prosecuted. If no money, forget the fines, but good jail time with free meals may help alleviate some of his or her financial stress. Rot in hell. Prayers that this angel finds a loving home and the right care.

  8. Bev Woodburn says:

This heartless monster must be jailed and the keys thrown away.
What a sadistic and callous monster.
I pray this little innocent dog is adopted into a forever loving home and his few years left finds compassion and love.

  9. Mark – Please do the job you were hired to do and prosecute this ass_ _ _ _ to the fullest extent of the law! Perhaps if more animal abusers were prosecuted, animal cruelty cases would be on the decline. The Animal Kingdom are citizens of this Earth too and they deserve our respect and protection. Please!

  10. There are certain people, like this particular blockhead, who MUST be forced to NEVER commit crimes against animals AGAIN — this mindless, cruel & merciless neglect of this sweet dog must be acknowledged — CRIMES AGAINST ANIMALS MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY — otherwise the idiots will repeat their atrocities — what kind of society do you want to live in!
