Don’t Return Starved Dog to Allegedly Abusive Owner

Neglected-Dog-By-Manhhai

Target: Joseph K. Mulholland, South Georgia Judicial District Attorney

Goal: Do not return malnourished and neglected dog to owner who reportedly starved it.

Two dogs allegedly died and one reportedly starved in a backyard. A neighbor apparently called animal control on Thomas Jones, Jr. after she noticed a lonely and neglected dog chained up in his backyard alongside two other dogs that had previously died. We need to take action to ensure that the person who committed these heinous acts of neglect is no longer allowed to own animals.

Even though the one dog was allegedly grossly underweight when it was found, a judge may decide to give the animal back to Jones. Considering that authorities said they found two other dead dogs on his property, it is absolutely unconscionable that giving back the third dog would even be considered by anyone to be a viable option. Focus should be on finding this dog a good home and on punishing this alleged abuser to the fullest extent of the law.

Urge the prosecuting attorney to do everything in his power to prevent this from happening, including ensuring that this individual not be allowed to own any animals in the future if he is found guilty. Owners who don’t take care of their dogs don’t deserve to have them, and dogs deserve to be with owners who actually care about their wellbeing.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Mulholland,

Authorities allegedly found two dead dogs in Thomas Jones, Jr.’s backyard, as well as another emaciated dog attached to a chain. It is important this person be held accountable under law for animal abuse and that he no longer be legally allowed to own animals in the future if he is found guilty.

While it is good news that the one dog has been temporarily taken to an animal shelter, it is absolutely deplorable that a judge may give this animal back to a thoughtless owner. If it is declared that two dead dogs were found in this man’s backyard and further that another dog was also chained up and starving there, focus should be on finding the neglected animal a good home and on what can be done to prevent this man from hurting anymore animals in the future.

I therefore urge you to suggest that this alleged animal abuser not be given back his dog and that he be banned from ever owning another pet. People who abuse animals deserve to spend time behind bars, not more chances to hurt, neglect or kill more pets.

Sincerely,
