Stop Clothing Retailer from Allegedly Labeling Cruelly Obtained Fur as ‘Humane’

Target: John Pecman, Commissioner of Canada’s Competition Bureau

Goal: Don’t allow Canada Goose to get away with allegedly abusing animals and deceiving customers by labeling cruelly obtained fur as “humanely sourced.”

Clothing retailer Canada Goose has allegedly been deceiving customers for years by falsely describing the coyote fur they use as humanely obtained. Despite this, authorities have decided to take no legal steps against the company. The fur used as trim in Canada Goose’s popular parkas and winter coats is reportedly made from coyotes trapped in barbaric snares that suffer and starve for days before they are found and skinned.

Despite Canada Goose allegedly using false marketing and misleading customers into thinking that their products are ethical while profiting from extreme animal suffering, legal cases against the company have been dismissed. Yet authorities have taken action against another Canadian jacket retailer, Moose Knuckles, for claiming its products are “Made in Canada” when they are in fact manufactured in China. As expressed by animal rights lawyer Camille Labchuk, it is staggering that federal regulators take “animal cruelty much less seriously than claims about where a jacket was made.”

Sign this petition urging authorities to take legal action against Canada Goose for allegedly deceiving buyers while profiting from the horrific abuse of wild animals.

Dear Commissioner Pecman,

I was shocked to hear that the Competition Bureau has taken no legal action against clothes retailer Canada Goose after it has been reported that the company has allegedly misled customers for years. Canada Goose has been accused of selling coyote fur from animals that have suffered immensely, all the while claiming this fur is humanely sourced. I’m sure you will agree that letting countless coyotes suffer and starve while trapped in barbaric snares for days on end before skinning them is hardly humane.

I urge you to take urgent action against this company for allegedly misleading customers and using false marketing to pass off cruelly obtained products as humane.
