Target: Matthew Engelhart, Owner of Café Gratitude and Gracias Madre
Goal: Stop using profits from vegan restaurants to slaughter meat and promote meat-eating habits.
The owners of two vegan restaurants and Be Love Farm recently revealed that they have slaughtered and eaten meat from their farm animals. Not only did they slaughter and eat the meat, they also posted a video of themselves eating a hamburger. These actions are contrary to vegan beliefs and do not promote kindness to animals.
Although the owners state the restaurants are still vegan and always will be, it’s clear that the name of their farm, Be Love, is now a misnomer. Anyone is entitled to change their lifestyle and beliefs, but this change in lifestyle was funded by vegan restaurant patrons who believed that they were supporting people with beliefs similar to their own.
Demand that the profits from the two vegan restaurants are not used to fund a non-vegan lifestyle lived by the owners.
Dear Mr. Engelhart,
Patrons of your vegan restaurants are horrified by revelations that you both slaughtered and ate animals raised at Be Love Farm. While no one denies you the right to change your personal beliefs or lifestyle, patrons resent that the money they spent at your vegan restaurants was used to fund the death and ingestion of animals.
We demand that you provide assurances that the profits from your restaurants are not used to fund a non-vegan lifestyle.
