Prosecute Farmer for Sending Sick, Suffering Cow to Slaughterhouse

Cow-by-werner22brigitte

Target: Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland, Barra McGrory

Goal: Sentence farmer who sent a suffering cow to the slaughterhouse more harshly than just giving him community service.

A farmer guilty of sending a sick and suffering cow on the long journey to the slaughterhouse has only been sentenced to community service. The farmer, Joseph Donaghey from Northern Ireland, has pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and transporting a bovine animal that was not fit for the journey.

Despite causing tremendous suffering to this cow simply to profit from the animal’s sold meat, this man will only have to serve community service and will be allowed to carry on working with and keeping animals. Sign this petition demanding that this man be given a much harsher sentence, including a lifetime ban on keeping animals, as he clearly does not have their welfare at heart.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. McGrory,

Despite having sent a sick animal to suffer on a long journey to the slaughterhouse simply to profit from the cow’s sold meat, a farmer has been given a shockingly lenient sentence. Joseph Donaghey from Clogher, County Tyrone, pleaded guilty to one charge of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and one charge of transporting a bovine animal that was not fit for the journey. Yet he was only sentenced to community service. This sends the harmful message that causing an animal to suffer is acceptable in the eyes of the law.

Letting this man continue to own and work with animals puts countless creatures at risk of suffering. I urge you to ensure this man is sentenced more harshly and banned from keeping animals for life.

Sincerely,

It’s time this type of thing was stopped; Many times these animals had been given antibiotics and the meat is not to be sold when it contains antibiotics. They are supposed to be tested first but aren’t. Many times, meat is sold containing antibiotics and even containing the disease the animal died with. Along with this, stop them from sending horses to slaughter. Work horses, horses as pets, race and other horses, reclassified as a meat animal so they can slaughter them and sell the meat to Europe. That’s how america lost its mustang herds. That and the fact that the Bureau of Land Management rounded up thousands, put them in pens then said they had to kill them because they couldn’t feed them. After that, for pennies, they rented the taxpayer-supported public lands these horses were on to ranchers so they could put their millions of cattle on them and damage the ecosystem irreparably. All for the sake of expediency and greed.

Ireland seems to be in the news for countless cases of animal abuse! What’s going on, obviously there are NO SUBSTANTIAL penalties for abuse. I have lost all respect for Ireland ):

  4. IT JUST GOES TO SHOW THESE EVIL VILE PEOPLE JUST KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH ALL THE TWISTED THINGS THEY DO, SHAME ON THEM, BUT THEY SHOULD REALLY BE PAYING FOR ALL THE THINGS THEY DO, NOT JUST A SLAP ON THE HAND, JUST THINK ABOUT THESE DEAR DEAR ANIMALS, THEY DO NOT DESERVE IT.
