Justice for Puppy Dragged Behind Truck

Target: Christopher T. Cohron, Prosecutor, Bowling Green, Kentucky

Goal: Punish man who killed dog by dragging it behind a truck for over a mile to the fullest extent of the law.

A dog recently died after being dragged behind a truck for more than a mile by a chain hooked up to the truck’s bumper. According to three separate drivers who called the police, the driver of the truck would not stop despite several attempts to get his attention. When he finally stopped to retrieve the dog, it was suffering extreme injuries all over its body. According to police, the driver claimed that he was unaware that the dog was tethered to his truck and he did not notice the other drivers trying to flag him down.

The dog, a seven-month-old Pit Bull mix named Sugar, was brought to an emergency veterinary center by police. She was found to have large patches of skin missing from being dragged on the road for so long. Her injuries were so bad that some bones and muscles were exposed. Sugar suffered massive blood loss and severe head trauma, and though she held on for a little while, she succumbed to her injuries less than 24 hours after the incident.

Sugar experienced incredible suffering before her death. Even if the driver truly did not know the dog was there, he should at least be charged with negligence for failing to ascertain the safety of his vehicle and failing to yield to several attempts by other drivers to flag him down. Sign the petition below to demand that he is punished for this callous act.

Dear Mr. Cohron,

A 7-month-old pit bull mix named Sugar recently died after being dragged behind a truck for over a mile. She suffered extensive injuries, including missing patches of tissue so large that her bones were exposed. This is a torturous way to die, and the driver of the truck must be punished.

The driver claimed that he was unaware that the dog was tethered to his car, despite several attempts by other motorists to flag him down. At the very least, this man should be found guilty of negligence. We, the undersigned, ask that you bring justice to Sugar by ensuring that her killer is punished to the fullest extent of the law.
