Target: Margie Hancock, General Manager of Paul White Chevrolet
Goal: End the use of primates in Paul White Chevrolet’s commercials.
Paul White Chevrolet in Cabin Creek, West Virginia is currently running two commercials that feature Popi. Popi is an orangutan who has lived through years of abuse and trauma, both physical and mental.
The footage in the commercials is from years ago when Popi was used for performances in Las Vegas by entertainer Bobby Berosini. Thanks to a dancer, footage was taken of Berosini beating his orangutans before every performance for an entire week. Due to the footage, PETA performed an undercover investigation and found that not only were the orangutans being beaten on a regular basis, but when the orangutans were not on stage they were crammed into small, windowless lockers.
Thankfully, Popi’s story has a happy ending. She now lives at an accredited sanctuary in Florida where she is surrounded by friends, sunshine, and happiness. Sign this petition and demand Paul White Chevrolet stop airing the commercials featuring Popi during some of the most tragic parts of her life.
Dear Ms. Hancock,
Your company recently released two new commercials featuring footage of an orangutan named Popi. Popi was used for shows in Las Vegas under the entertainer Bobby Berosini.
Due to some leaked footage and an undercover investigation, it was found that Berosini would regularly beat Popi and the other orangutans before shows and keep them in small, windowless lockers when they were not on stage. These orangutans were abused physically and mentally.
Footage from one of the most traumatic periods of their lives should not be used as a commercial. Please consider pulling these ads and no longer using animal entertainment in your future commercials.
