Severely Prosecute Alleged Horse Abuser

Target: Jim Currell, Prosecutor Sergeant

Goal: Severely prosecute Bruce Akers after 21 dead horses were found on his property.

A horse was recently discovered starving and dying in its paddock and the carcasses of 21 other horses were found on the property. Some of the dead horses had apparently been piled together. After seeing “leg movement in the air,” a Melbourne man made the grisly discovery on his neighbor’s property, the Herald Sun reports.

Bruce Akers, the owner of the horses and the property where they were discovered, has been charged with 92 counts of animal cruelty. While beginning the prosecution of the alleged abuser is a good first step, it must not be viewed as the end of this tragic story. Mr. Akers seems to show little remorse for fate of the animals under his care. His lawyer, Emily Buchanan, has even tried to deflect blame by noting that reports of asbestos contamination at a nearby dump.

Call on prosecutors to take Mr. Akers alleged animal abuse seriously and, if he is responsible, ensure that he is thoroughly punished. The person responsible for the tragic neglect and cruel deaths of so many animals must be made to understand the extent of his wrongdoing.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prosecutor Sergeant Jim Currell,

The Herald Sun recently reported a chilling scene of animal cruelty. A man, having seen unusual movement, discovered a horse starving in its paddock. When authorities were summoned to investigate, they found 21 dead horses on the property–some of them were even piled together.

The owner of the property and the horses, Bruce Akers, has been charged with 92 counts of animal cruelty. While it is promising that charges have been brought against the alleged abuser and the surviving horses are being re-homed, these should only be the first steps. The Herald Sun reports that, rather than appearing contrite as the charges against him were read out, Mr. Akers appeared “stone-faced.” Moreover, his lawyer has tried to deflect blame by noting that reports of asbestos contamination at a nearby dump.

Please zealously prosecute your case against Mr. Akers to ensure that, if he is found responsible for the deaths of the horses under his care, he understands the suffering that he caused and can never again harm another animal.

Sincerely,

Clearly undeniably guilty but to my mind so is the Lawyer who tries to divert the course of justice in order to get their client off by any means. A lawyers role is to ensure that all the relevant facts are put forward for their client not to obfuscate and prevaricate, Emily Buchanan needs to be investigated by her professional body.

  2. OMG…………..THIS IS INSANE. MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF THIS ANIMAL ABUSER AND KILLER BY JAILING HIM FOR 6-10 YEARS, FINE HIM A HUGE AMOUNT, BAN HIM FROM HAVING OR BEING AROUND ANY ANIMALS AND DEMAND PSYCHIATRIC HELP AS HE IS A SICKO!!

  3. This monster has no remorse for what he did to the animals in his care. He made sure he was well-fed though. Wish the neighbours had noticed this appalling cruelty a lot sooner. Please do not give this scum a “slap on the wrist” – he does not deserve any mercy just like he gave none to these poor horses. Hope he loses the property also.

  4. this sorry excuse for a human being doesn’t deserve to be defended. He needs to be put in a cage just big enough to stand up in outdoors.Just given just enough food and water to be kept alive.Keep his food and water just out of reach.give him a bucket to use as a toilet, and a rug for a bed.Hose him off once a week for his bath. Give him just one change of clothes a week.

Bruce Akers must be charged for animal torture and suffering and sentenced to years in jail not just a couple but many years for his deliberate sadism and torture of helpless and innocent horses. He has been charged previously for animal cruelty and this time must be sentenced to jail for the rest of his miserable, sadistic and callous life so he can,t deliberately torture any more defenceless and innocent animals.
Absolutely sickening and evil at its worst.
I hope the bastard dies a painful death, which this monsters fully deserves.

  8. To pay for the unnecessary pain and sufferings inflicted on these poor animals, this evil incorrigible and unrepentant coward must serve harsh jail sentence. Guilty as charged on numerous occasions for animal cruelty he must not be allowed to deal with or own an animal again on his property or any other property permanently in future.
