Target: Dr. Celeste Philip, Florida Interim Surgeon General
Goal: Shut down the large facilities that import, hold and breed monkeys in Hendry County.
Thousands of monkeys are being held captive at multiple facilities in Hendry County, Florida. These monkeys are trapped in cages and terrified. According to an undercover investigation lead by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, these monkeys were tossed around, left untreated for days when injured, and severely neglected.
In addition to the atrocities that happen in the facilities, monkeys, like humans, are natural hosts to the Zika virus. These facilities are the perfect place for the virus to spread. The monkeys are trapped in cages and cannot escape the mosquitoes.
These facilities are harmful to the monkeys and unsafe for the population. Sign this petition and demand these facilities be shut down.
Dear Dr. Philip,
It has come to our attention that there are multiple large facilities that import, hold and breed monkeys in Hendry County. According to the animal rights organization PETA, the monkeys in these facilities are tossed around, left untreated for days when injured, and severely neglected.
Also, these facilities are the perfect places for the Zika virus to spread. Monkeys, like humans, are natural hosts to the Zika virus, and these monkeys are unable to escape the mosquitoes when trapped in the cages.
These facilities are abusive and are unsafe to keep open. It is time these facilities are closed down for good.
