Praise Quick Rescue and Re-Homing of Hundreds of Abused Animals

raeford_PETA

Target: Ehren Melius, ASPCA Shelter Director

Goal: Applaud ASPCA for assisting in finding homes for over 500 rescued animals.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) assisted a North Carolina sheriff’s department in rescuing over 600 animals from a “no-kill animal shelter” that was supposed to act as a safe haven for rescued animals. Found in the shelter were filthy, cramped cages that housed hundreds of animals. They were found to have many injuries or symptoms of neglect, including undernourishment, kidney failure, respiratory disease, and open wounds.

After counting the amount of animals that were found, this rescue became the largest companion animal cruelty case in the history of the ASPCA. The team was quick to send animals to temporary shelters so that they could receive emergency medical evaluations and treatment. After requesting legal ownership of all of the animals that were rescued that day, the ASPCA held a three-day adoption event in which people could come and adopt the pets with free microchips, vaccinations, spay or neuter procedures, and adoption fees. This act of kindness resulted in the adoption of 524 neglected animals to loving families in just two days.

Please sign this petition to praise the efforts of the ASPCA to save these animals from misery and secure a bright future for them with loving families.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Melius,

I am writing this letter to you and the rest of the ASPCA team that assisted in saving animals from a wretched “shelter” that was instead more like a prison. Your team effectively went in and sent these animals for medical assessments, sought legal ownership of them, and held a tasteful adoption event in which families were found for over 500 of them.

By easing the adoption process and speeding it up, your team was able to adopt out 524 animals in just two days. This demonstrates the ASPCA’s commitment to the welfare of all animals, not just the ones in your immediate care. I believe that this act of dedication and empathy will serve as the standard for animal treatment both in the regions in which it operates, but also nationally. I wish to deeply thank you and your team for successfully rescuing over 600 animals, treating them, and adopting them out in a timely manner so that they can spend their time with caring, loving families.

Sincerely,

  6. IF this is the case I’m thinking of, there is another side to the story…..

They killed (“euthanized”) any dog age 10 or older no matter his health and condition……they terrorized the aged director of the facility, shining bright lights into her bedroom EVERY night for weeks……there are many who felt that based on what the county paid for animal care, she and her helpers were actually doing the best they could…..

HER personal dogs were grabbed and killed…..despite her pleas……

THE WAY THEY MANAGED TO “REHOME” ALL THESE ANIMALS SO FAST WAS BY LETTING ANYONE WHO SHOWED UP ON THE “ADOPTION” DAYS SIMPLY HAVE A DOG OR CAT…..THE AREA IS RIFE WITH DOG FIGHTERS WHO MUST HAVE HAD A FIELD DAY FINDING FIGHTING DOGS AND BAIT ANIMALS……

THIS WAS A VERY CONTROVERSIAL ACTION….IT WAS NOT A “WONDERFUL OUTCOME” ACCORDING TO MANY WHO WERE THERE AND WATCHED THE NAZI THUG TYPE ACTIONS OF THE ASPCA.

    • You stated: “IF this is the case I’m thinking of….”
Lajeanne, you should not even be making these accusations if you are not sure! Next time, get your facts straight, get your proof, and then bring it to the table.

  7. ANYONE WITH ANY CONNECTIONS TO FACEBOOK (WHICH I DON’T HAVE)PLEASE REFER THOSE POSTERS TO MY POST, ABOVE, FOR THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS STORY! VERY CONTROVERSIAL ISSUE, AND NOT ONE SIDED AS PRESENTED HERE!

I actually wondered if these innocent dogs, cats and any other innocent animal was adopted out to forever loving homes.
I pray they were but it makes one wonder.
Hopefully they are safe, but there is a big BUT there.

I have a hard time believing this is as wonderful as they are saying. the ceo of the ASPCA makes 500,000 per year. anytime you email them about an animal in an extremely abusive situation they tell you how to report animal cruelty.. which is what I did when I reported it to the ASPCA. I did not sign.
