Dogs Allegedly Bred in Horrible Conditions Deserve Justice

Target: Bruce Colton, State Attorney, 19th Judicial Circuit of Florida

Goal: Prosecute woman who allegedly neglected to provide adequate care for dogs and sold them to unknowing patrons.

Dogs were allegedly being bred in filthy conditions and sold to unsuspecting people. We need to take action in order to ensure these innocent animals receive justice.

Twenty-eight dogs were reportedly found running around inside an apartment that was filled with animal feces and rats. The dogs likely lived in filthy conditions for a long period of time, as Beverly Louise Shott’s employees claimed they had been aware that she regularly sold dogs from her business establishment. Because all of the dogs were found to be infested with fleas and worms, the St. Lucie County Humane Society won’t know if the dogs will be healthy enough to adopt out for at least a month. Breeding dogs in such filthy conditions is reproachable. Furthermore, the fact that these dogs may have to be put down because their owner could apparently not be bothered to take care of them should not be overlooked.

Demand this woman be given a harsh legal sentence if she is found guilty of committing these inexcusable acts of animal cruelty. Animals deserve better than to disregarded by the people who are supposed to be looking out for their welfare.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear State Attorney Colton,

A woman allegedly bred and allowed dogs to live in disgusting conditions and then sold them at her place of employment. It is important that she be given a strict punishment under law in order to ensure that she will not be able to abuse or neglect other animals if this is found to be the case.

Authorities said that 28 dogs were found running around an apartment that contained rats and old fecal matter. The person thought to be responsible for allowing the dogs to live in such unsanitary conditions—Beverly Louise Shott—was further said by her employees to advertise that she was selling the dogs on signs near her location of business.

While breeding and selling dogs is legal, breeding dogs in deplorable conditions and then attempting to sell them is not. If such actions go unpunished, the lives of many more innocent animals may be at risk.

I therefore strongly encourage you to advise that this woman be given a harsh legal sentence if she is found guilty of animal cruelty. No animal deserves to be bred and neglected by a greedy person who cares about nothing more than making a profit.

Sincerely,
