Target: William Bratton, New York City Police Commissioner
Goal: Investigate and punish officer accused of shooting friendly dog in apartment building hallway.
Yvonne Rosado says her dog, Spike, was shot by police even though he posed no threat. Officers were in her apartment building after being called out on an unrelated incident. Yvonne alleges that she opened the door to see what was going on when Spike ran out, tail wagging. Yvonne believes the officer felt threatened despite her shouts of “he’s friendly” simply because Spike is a pit bull.
When Spike was shot, Yvonne says she ran out in the hallway in her underwear to hold him as a died with his tail wagging. She further alleges that officers viewed her as a threat since they jumped on top of her. A neighbor who witnessed the event told reporters that they pinned Yvonne against the stairs.
Demand the officer involved is investigated and punished for his egregious use of force.
Dear Commissioner Bratton,
A resident of the city you’ve sworn to protect has lost her four-legged best friend and her dignity as a result of the alleged actions of one of your officers. Yvonne Rosado says she opened her apartment door to see what was going on in the hallway when her pit bull, Spike, ran out with his tail wagging. She alleges that despite her calls of “he’s friendly” the officer in the hall shot Spike and that when she went out to comfort her dog as he died, officers pinned her down.
We demand the officer involved is investigated and punished.
