Seek Justice for Drowned Puppy

Target: Jackie Lacey, Los Angeles District Attorney

Goal: Seek justice for puppy that was tied up and drowned.

A small puppy was recently found tied to a blue shovel at Mother’s Beach in Marina del Rey. It was found one morning by boaters who were surprised to notice a shovel in the water. As they got closer, they were shocked to find a puppy tied to it.

There is no question that this puppy was purposefully tied to the shovel, as the rope was knotted around its neck. Officials believe that the puppy was tied to the shovel on land, but as the tide came in, it swept up the weak puppy with its strong waves. The puppy was found to have identification tags around its neck and officials are currently working on finding the owner.

This situation presents behavior that is disturbing and reckless to say the least. There was no reason for the puppy to be tied up for so long that the owners did not notice that he had actually washed away with the tide. The people allegedly responsible for neglecting this puppy should be charged and serve the maximum penalty for their callous disregard for life. Please sign this petition urging the Los Angeles District Attorney to seek the maximum possible penalty for those responsible for tying this puppy to a shovel.

Dear Ms. Lacey,

I am writing this letter to encourage you to seek the maximum penalty for the person(s) responsible for allegedly tying a puppy to a shovel, which resulted in its death.

As you know, a terrier mix puppy was found recently in the water near Mother’s Beach in Marina del Rey–drowned after being tied to a shovel by a rope around its neck. Needless to say, the act of tying the puppy to the shovel was purposeful and deliberate. Although the person may not have meant for the small dog to wash away with the tide, the owner should have been responsible for keeping track of their pet during long periods of time.

This type of behavior should not be taken lightly as it may act as a warning sign for similar actions. Owning a pet comes with responsibility and accountability, both of which the owner should have to accept, especially when it comes with irreversible consequences like these. Please make sure that after the perpetrators are found, they are punished to the fullest extent of the law.

  1. I have an issue with this article and the accompanying photograph.

It makes it seem a tiny newborn puppy was drowned. I have seen the actual photograph of the drowned dog tied to the shovel and it appears to be a full grown dog…..that doesn’t lessen the severity of the crime, and it is wrong to try to manipulate peoples’ emotions by describing the dog as a puppy and showing the photo of a newborn puppy with the article.

THIS is not journalism and tends to make people distrust journalism.

  2. Rose Chludzinski says:

Could this be two different instances? The older dog I believe was in the water and the shovel was standing in the water. It’s scary that the monster who did this is out there!! Please do all you can to find the SICKO MONSTER TO DID THIS AND TIE HIM TO A SHOVEL IN THE WATER.

  3. There are many restaurants adjacent to this beach, check their security cameras NOW before they record over the date on question!!!
