Stop Using Real Fur on Game of Thrones Tours Costumes

Target: Rob Dowling, Managing Director of Game of Thrones Tours

Goal: Stop using real fur and other animal materials on Game of Thrones Tours costumes.

A company is promoting animal cruelty by continuing to use real fur in its Game of Thrones-themed tours in Northern Ireland. The company uses fur—and other cruel animal products such as wool and leather—on cloaks and costumes given to customers to wear on tours of the television series’ filming locations.

As an animal rights organization rightly points out, “this is a fantasy adventure series,” therefore the fur does not need to be real. Fur production is an incredibly cruel practice in which countless animals are abused and killed. Wool and leather are also cruelly obtained from animals tortured and slaughtered. The company’s use of these materials sends the harmful message that it is acceptable to kill animals for their skin.

Sign this petition urging Game of Thrones Tours to stop using real fur, as well as leather and wool, and to replace them with cruelty-free alternatives.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Dowling,

Your company continues to use real fur on cloaks and costumes given to customers to wear on the tours you operate. Game of Thrones Tours also uses leather and wool. You may be aware of the extreme cruelty that goes into fur production, wherein animals are kept in tiny wire cages and gassed, clubbed to death or anally electrocuted before being skinned. Some are skinned alive. The wool and leather industry are equally cruel and see countless animals abused and slaughtered.

Your company’s use of real fur, as well as leather and wool, sends the harmful message that it is acceptable to torture and kill sentient beings for their skin. Please replace these cruel products with easily obtained cruelty-free alternatives.

Sincerely,

  1. Kathy Khoshfahm says:

Rob – Why do you still use real fur when there are synthetic materials available that look and feel like real fur? I have seen, firsthand, video of fur animals having their paws and feet cut off, getting skinned and then being thrown in a dumpster – all while still alive. And all in the name of fashion. The cruelty in the fur industry is almost beyond belief. Please consider making the switch from real fur to synthetic fur; millions of animals lives are depending on it…

  2. WHY DON’T YOU JUST WATCH ONE OF THE VIDEOS OF PETA ,JUST SO YOU KNOW HOW THE SKINS /FURS ARE OBTAINED. PLEASE STOP USING SKINS AND FUR.
