Save Neglected Dog From Euthanasia

Target: Jeremy Wright, Attorney General for England and Wales

Goal: Do not euthanize dog that was allegedly forced to live in a small cage for two years without exercise.

A dog that has allegedly been kept in a small cage and not exercised for two years may soon be killed because police suspect that she is dangerous. We need to take action to ensure that this animal is saved and to further prevent other acts of animal cruelty from taking place.

Police forbade staff workers at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) from taking the dog out for play time or even petting it. Unfortunately, this is the situation with all dogs authorities deem dangerous enough to be categorized under the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act. However, in Stella’s case the neglect may have been worse, since she was thought to be singled out for looking like a “pit bull-type dog.”

According to the dog’s owner, Stella had never displayed aggressive behavior before being found by police. Since many dogs oftentimes only display aggression when they are in a stressful situation, this is likely the case. Nonetheless, a court has ordered that Stella be killed.

Enslaving an animal to a cage for two years and then killing it because it looks like a certain breed is not only unacceptable, but it is also a blatant act of animal cruelty. Demand steps be taken to spare this dog’s life and to also ensure dogs in kennels receive proper exercise. No animal deserves to be treated in this inhumane manner.

Dear Attorney General Wright,

A dog that has been reportedly locked up in a cage for two years and never taken outside for exercise has been ordered to be killed. It is important that this dog’s life be spared in order to prevent both injustice and further animal cruelty.

It is absolutely appalling that police have forbidden staff workers at the RSPCA to let Stella and other dogs that they claim are dangerous outside for daily exercise. Stella’s case is especially sad, since it is suspected that she was singled out because she looks like a “pit bull-type dog.” Furthermore, I am disgusted that this animal is now scheduled to be killed after not even having the chance to live life like a normal dog.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, dogs that are normally not aggressive can act this way when placed in certain circumstances. Two such circumstances include a dog feeling like it is trapped or feeling like it has to defend itself, which is likely the case in this particular situation.

For these reasons, I urge you to fight for this dog’s life and to also support all dogs in kennels receiving proper exercise. Animals do not deserve to be treated like disregarded pieces of trash.
