Praise Harsh Judgement Against Teen Who Bludgeoned Waterfowl

Target: Judge William O. Voy, Clark County Court

Goal: Applaud tough yet rehabilitation-focused sentence against teen who killed seven swans and ducks.

A teen who violently killed several swans and ducks has been handed a harsh sentence by a judge. The young man, who pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty, will face probation, 500 hours of community service, and a hefty fine. He will also be forbidden from obtaining a driver’s license until his probation is completed. These severe punishments are in line with recommendations made by the community affected by the crime.

Corpses of dead and bludgeoned waterfowl recently caused a shock in Desert Shores community in Las Vegas. Residents reported finding baby swans with their heads smashed in by a brick, full grown ducks laying dead on pathways, and a nest full of broken swan eggs. In total, three ducks, two adult swans, and two young swans were found dead.

The waterside community quickly came together in response to the brutal attack, offering a reward for anyone who came forward with information leading to the conviction of the person responsible. The tactic was successful, and a young man was arrested soon afterward. A psychiatric evaluation determined that the teen was mentally stable but lashed out after experiencing personal issues.

Unlike many animal cruelty cases, this punishment is in line with the severity of the crime rather than just a slap on the wrist. The sentence of probation and community service will ensure that the teen is given a chance at turning his life around while working to enrich his community. Sign the petition below to praise the harsh yet rehabilitation-focused judgement against this young man.

Dear Judge Voy,

A young man was recently sentenced to 12 months probation, a sizable fine, and 500 hours of community service after pleading guilty to the brutal killings of seven waterfowl from the Desert Shores community. Residents claimed that the birds were bludgeoned with bricks, decapitated, and thrown about park areas.

Not only does this sentence take a harsh stance against animal cruelty, but will allow the teen to work to repair the damage done to his community. This rehabilitation-focused sentence will give him the best possible chance to lead a successful life. We, the undersigned, praise the court’s harsh but constructive judgement against a teen who bludgeoned community waterfowl.
