Don’t Kill Dogs Rescued from Dog Fighting Ring

Target: Annemarie Erika Bonkalo, Ontario Court of Justice Chief of Justice

Goal Deny application asking to kill pit bulls seized from alleged dog fighting ring.

Twenty-one pit bulls may be facing the possibility of a death sentence after they were seized from an alleged dog fighting ring. The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) submitted the application to have the dogs “destroyed.” A lawyer on this case stated that nothing has been proven in court, so it’s senseless to murder the animals based on pure allegations.

These innocent animals didn’t choose to be part of an alleged fight ring so they shouldn’t be given the death sentence. The scarred up dogs, awaiting their fate in kennels, have gone through enough suffering. They deserve a chance to have a good life, and there are plenty of capable people happy to accept and properly care for dogs like these. Please sign this petition and demand that these innocent lives be spared and placed with appropriate, good homes.

Dear Chief Justice Bonkalo,

Twenty-one pit bulls were seized from an alleged dog fighting ring, and now they may face a death sentence. The OSPCA has submitted an application to a court to have these innocent animals “destroyed” like they’re disposable objects and not living beings.

Even if the fighting allegations are true, there are capable, willing people who these dogs could be placed with, so it would be a tragedy to end so many lives before even trying to find them homes. We ask that you take these innocent lives into consideration and make the decision to deny the OSPCA’s request to “destroy” them.

Hold it! You can’t these rescued dog victims from a fighting ring. Dogfighting is cruel and not a sport. More action needs to be taken to shut these down. Give these dogs a second chance, and reverse the bad proposal now. Let them live, please!

  2. Gene Sengstake says:

“Eliminate” the problem – the promoters of such a vile event. Spare their lives and find new homes for the dogs. I don’t know what to do about the spectators who attend such cruel events – maybe a (mandatory) substantial fine or jail time – – –

  3. Stephanie Stone says:

The OSPCA should be ashamed. “Prevention of Cruelty to Animals?” NOT! They say the dogs should be “destroyed!” Yes, as many are saying, they should look to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah which rehabilitated most of the Vick dogs. It’s possible some of the dogs are in such bad shape physically and emotionally, they might not be able to be rehabilitated and euthanasia might be necessary, but they must be given a chance at a life and loving home.

  4. Call tia torres (pitbulls and parolee)

  5. maria kakalioura says:

so, exactly how does the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals prevent cruelty to animals?

  7. DENISE BAUDIN says:

(OSPCA) The Ontario Society for the PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS – PREVENTION??????? REALLY?????????????? is the organizations whose operations include PROTECTING and PROVIDING SHELTER TO ANIMALS IN DANGER IN THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO – PROTECTING?????????? REALLY???????? Sounds like a joke to me. See Sue Michael’s comment on this page, “If you’re put into a situation where you either fight or die, what would you do? It doesn’t make them bad, just survivors”. These dogs deserve a chance to have a good life, and there are plenty of capable people happy to accept and properly care for dogs like these.
We ask you, Annemarie Erika Bonkalo, Ontario Court of Justice Chief of Justice, to deny application asking to kill pit bulls seized from alleged dog fighting ring. Thank you.

  8. Lajeanne Leveton says:

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary rehabilitated MOST of the Michael Vick fighting dogs. They took as many as the judge would allow, and all were rehabbed….some were able to be adopted out; others have spent the rest of their lives in Best Friends, one became the “office dog”!

This shows it is possible to rehabilitate fighting dogs…..many dog experts and others have come forward and offered to take these dogs and rehab them, but the judge says no, so far.
When the Michael Vick case was still ongoing, both PETA and the Humane Society wanted ALL of his fighting dogs killed; only Best Friends thought they could be rehabbed and they were right!

  9. Enough abuse has befallen these innocent creatures Help them! Don’t destroy them bc of what evil humans have done!! OSPCA You Suck!!

  10. Carolyn Taylor says:

Please don’t kill these poor, innocent souls! They are worthy of a life away from their abusers.
