Target: French Agriculture Minister, Stéphane Le Foll
Goal: Permanently close down slaughterhouse where horrific animal abuse allegedly occurred.
Footage depicting the horrific abuse of sheep, pigs and cows released by an animal rights group has resulted in a slaughterhouse in France being temporarily closed. Scenes reportedly show employees throwing sheep against barriers, hanging pigs up by one leg and pulling cows by the horns. Animals were also allegedly tasered and slaughtered while conscious.
Certified as organic, the facility located in the South of France processed animals from over 100 farmers in the region. This proves that despite claims to the contrary, organic meat is no less cruel than regular meat. It also attests to the necessity of installing surveillance cameras in all slaughterhouses to dissuade employees from abusing animals.
Sign this petition urging French authorities to shut down this horrific facility for good as well as install video surveillance in all slaughterhouses to help prevent such abuse.
Dear Minister Le Foll,
After the disgrace of the widely-reported cruelty at the Alès slaughterhouse, more reports of abuse have surfaced at the organic Le Vigan slaughterhouse. As you are no doubt aware, footage reportedly shows employees throwing sheep against barriers, hanging pigs up by one leg, pulling cows by the horns, tasering animals and slaughtering them while conscious.
These horrific reports prove the need to install surveillance cameras in slaughterhouses nationwide to ensure employees are not abusing animals. In light of this evidence, we also demand that this cruel facility is shut down permanently.
