Justice for Shark Abused in Selfie Photo Opportunity

Target: Pam Bondi, Florida Attorney General

Goal: Punish tourist filmed pulling a shark from the ocean to pose with in selfie photos.

A recently released video shows a man pulling a shark from the ocean in order to pose with it for his friends to take pictures. The video, taken by journalist Ashleigh Walters from WPTV, comes on the heals of a similar incident in Argentina involving a baby dolphin.

The Florida video shows a man pulling a struggling shark from the sea and wrestling it onto the sand. It goes on to show the man’s six friends taking pictures of him posing with the traumatized shark. The shark is eventually released back into the sea, but is not seen resurfacing for several minutes.

This abusive behavior must not be allowed to continue. Demand the man in this video and his friends are located and punished for their heinous behavior.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney Bondi,

A video filmed by a local journalist shows a man wrestling a live, struggling shark from the ocean in order for his six friends to take turns photographing him posing with the animal. Although the shark was eventually released back into the sea, it was not seen resurfacing for several minutes and its long-term survival is unknown. Florida must take a zero-tolerance stand against such abusive actions.

We demand this man and his friends are investigated and punished accordingly.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  3. Anita culling says:

Another ignorant self centered pratt. Signed petition this morning for justice for dolphin killed in same way. They cannot be allowed to get away with this. What is wrong with the world.

  4. Cynthia Mattera says:

What a bunch of morons!!! Jail time sounds great!

  5. Kathy Khoshfahm says:

Pam – Please do the job you were elected to do and start handing down sentences that will deter this kind of behavior. A slap on the wrist, which most perpetrators receive, is an insult to those of us who tirelessly sign these petitions, not to the mention the innocent victims of the Animal Kingdom…

  6. Lisbeth Alvarado Sanchez says:

Pathetic sick morons who need to torture an innocent animal to be popular with their Friends. Someone should hold them under the wáter so they can feel the agonizing pain and fear this creatures had to endure and after that send them to jail.

  7. THESE IDIOTS HAVE NO BRAIN OR COMPASSION. WHY WOULD ANYONE THINK IT IS OK TO DO THIS TO A LIVING BREATHING CREATURE KNOWING IT WILL DIE WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO GET BACK INTO THE WATER?? SEVERELY PUNISH THESE KNUCKLE HEADS..BY MAKING A EXAMPLE OF THEM SO NO ONE ELSE WILL WANT TO DO THE SAME AND GO TO JAIL FOR BEING STUPID.

  8. Lynn Juozilaitis says:

These worthless subhumans should be shot on site. They’re nothing but sadistic lowlifes that enjoy torturing, abusing and sometimes killing innocent animals and if they get the chance, will do the same to humans too!
    Get rid of them all!

  9. Janet Lynch says:

Sharks are slow-reproducing, ovoviparous fish. For those of you ignoramuses who are unfamiliar with the term, it means that while sharks are not mammals, they do give birth to a small number of live young, rather than laying eggs. This means that they are slower to reproduce than egg-laying fish, and that survival of individual young sharks is particularly crucial to the survival of shark species. Many shark species are endangered because of wanton killing by ignorant humans. Although this incident did not involve actual killing, it appears to condone abuse of sharks, and it does nothing to inform the public about the importance of sharks in ocean ecosystems. This kind of behavior is wantonly destructive and must not be tolerated. It certainly has zero entertainment value to anyone whose DNA is not entirely Neanderthal.

  10. Bunch of drunk idiots!
