Save People and Animals From Climate Change Disaster

Target: Anthony Kennedy, Supreme Court Judge

Goal: Support plan to reduce carbon emissions in order to ensure both people and animals do not become extinct.

Climate change will likely destroy our planet in part because one Supreme Court judge has decided to change his vote and no longer support states being required to devise individual plans that would say what they intend to do to reduce carbon emissions. We need to take action to better ensure that both people and animals can continue to thrive.

Because some states have decided to sue the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) over requiring these regulations, the Supreme Court is allowing them to halt such planning until a verdict is reached. This is disturbing news since climate change is adversely affecting both people and animals. People are experiencing hotter temperatures during the summer than ever before and polar bears are currently struggling to survive in the Arctic because of rising temperatures.

Ironically, the EPA was put in charge of all decisions having to do with carbon emissions a while back by the Supreme Court, making the decision to vote against their actions ridiculous. Furthermore, the case has not even reached the Supreme Court, as it still has yet to pass through the lower courts. Therefore, saying states should not have to follow these regulations makes no sense since there has not even been an official ruling yet. Sadly, the original decision that required states to take such actions will likely be overturned because Judge Anthony Kennedy who first voted for the plan is now voting against it.

Tell Kennedy to stand behind his original decision and to support the requirement for states to come up with concrete plans aimed at combating climate change. If we don’t start taking steps to mitigate the damage, the lives of both people and animals may soon be in great jeopardy.

Dear Judge Kennedy,

You recently voted against requiring states to outline what they intend to do in order to reduce carbon emissions despite the fact that you voted for this action in the past. It is important that each state do what it can to reduce the damage climate change has caused to better ensure that both people and animals will be able to thrive.

Climate change is causing serious problems on our planet. People across the globe have reported experiencing hotter temperatures during the summer than ever before and polar bears are dying because icebergs in the Arctic are quickly melting.

As you know, the Supreme Court made the EPA in charge of any decisions having to do with carbon emissions a few years ago. Therefore, voting in favor of quelling what they have decided pertaining to this matter simply does not make sense. Furthermore, until a verdict is made in the lower courts, states should be required to create plans saying how they will reduce the adverse effects of climate change.

I therefore urge you to support your original decision that states be required to outline what they are going to do to help combat global warming. Doing nothing will only lead to the disintegration of our great planet.
