Endangered Penguins Allegedly Slaughtered Deserve Justice

Target: Alan Blow OAM, Chief Justice of Tasmania

Goal: Prosecute those responsible for the disturbing death of endangered penguins.

Nine penguins died in Tasmania in what was described as a “disturbing act.” Though police have not disclosed the details, they are seeking justice under the Animal Welfare Act. Demand that those responsible receive the maximum penalty under law, if found guilty.

Little penguins, an endangered species, were allegedly trapped and slaughtered. Sergeant Kym Turale, an investigator on scene, would not go into details of the incident, but stated, “It concerns us, it concerns wildlife rangers, and the public are very unimpressed by this sort of behaviour as well.” The joint investigation involving police, Wildlife Rangers, and the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE) reportedly identified two suspects.

An 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy will be charged with taking protective wildlife and causing unreasonable or unjustifiable pain and suffering to an animal. This behavior cannot be tolerated. Sign below to demand the maximum penalty under law for those convicted of this cruel and disturbing crime.

Dear Chief Justice Blow,

Nine endangered penguins were allegedly trapped and slaughtered on the beaches of Sulphur Creek. Though details of the death have not been disclosed, they have raised concern with local law enforcement due to their disturbing nature.

Little penguins are an endangered species. For this reason, they are protected under the Animal Welfare Act. Any action taken to harm the penguins, especially cruel and disturbing acts, should incur the maximum penalty under law.

We demand that those convicted of this crime face the maximum penalty. An example must be made to discourage future harmful actions against all innocent animals.
