Target: Jane Castor, Tampa Bay Chief of Police
Goal: Initiate investigation into abandonment of eight puppies.
Tampa Bay police have not been brought in to investigate and locate the person who left eight puppies to die. A Good Samaritan found them in a box on the side of the road, tossed aside like trash, and contacted the Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB). HSTB officials indicate that these poor babies had been suffering for weeks from mange and other health issues.
Mange causes a dog’s skin to crack and bleed and quickly becomes infected. For the puppies, that infection had become systemic. Fortunately, HSTB veterinarians are treating them with antibiotics, medicated baths, and lots of food and love. They expect the puppies will make a full recovery in four to six weeks. Despite their horrendous condition, HSTB did not contact Tampa Bay police to initiate an investigation.
Demand that the Tampa Bay police initiate an investigation into this incident.
Dear Chief Castor,
An unknown person, or persons, left eight puppies to die in a box by the side of the road. When a Good Samaritan found them, the puppies were riddled with mange and systemic infection. Fortunately, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay has been able to begin a course of treatment and expects the puppies to make a full recovery in four to six weeks.
The Tampa Bay police were not contacted. HSTB officials indicate they only do so on a “case by case basis,” but did not explain why police were not contacted in this case.
We demand that Tampa Bay police initiate an investigation of their own accord to find the horrible person that left these puppies to die.
