Dog Starved to Death Deserves Justice

Target: William West, Cumberland County District Attorney

Goal: Prosecute people who allegedly starved dogs and allowed one animal to suffer and die.

One dog allegedly starved to death and another dog was supposedly found without food or water inside a crate. We need to insist that anyone found guilty of abusing these animals is legally punished in order to better ensure that other dogs will be safe.

Police were dispatched to a residence after they received a call from a citizen claiming that an animal was in distress. After arriving at the residence of Frankie Lynn Barker and Danielle Elizabeth Durocher, officials left a warning on the door stating they had 24 hours to contact authorities. Upon no communication, police returned the next day to reportedly find one dog in a crate with no food or water and another dog dead. A local veterinarian stated that the cause of death was starvation.

While Barker and Durocher have both been brought up on felony charges and are being held on a $10,000 bond, their fate has yet to be decided. Urge the district attorney to suggest that these people be given a harsh sentence under law if they are found guilty of neglecting these innocent animals. No dog deserves to die at the hands of neglectful owners.

Dear District Attorney West,

According to reports, one dog was found dead and another dog was witnessed starving in a crate at a local residence. It is important that anyone found guilty of committing such blatant acts of animal cruelty be given a harsh legal sentence in order to better ensure that other animals will be less likely to endure such neglect.

Police posted a notice on Frankie Lynn Barker’s and Danielle Elizabeth Durocher’s door giving them 24 hours to contact authorities about the issue. After receiving no contact, police came back the next day and reported finding a dog left alone in a crate with no food or water and another dog deceased. The cause of death was thought to be starvation.

Barker and Durocher have both been brought up on felony animal cruelty charges and are being held on a $10,000 bond. We urge you to suggest that they receive a harsh legal sentence if they are found guilty of having mistreated these animals. Animal abusers should be punished to the fullest extent of the law to better ensure that they will be more hesitant about committing such heinous and disgusting acts towards other innocent creatures.

Abuse is the ultimate betrayal towards any living soul and absolutely heartbreaking all the way around. You simply can not do such a horrific thing without it killing the best in you. Period. But in case there are any out there who couldn’t care less about torturing animals – which says a lot about you, as well – then think on this: If you find people happily willing to hurt an animal in any way, they are actually finding a venue to act out their deepest, most inner evil fantasies of twisted sickness. There’s nothing more revolting than that. Aside from this, it has been proven repeatedly that those who have horrid intents with animals, get bored with them soon enough, ultimately leading them to bigger prey, moving up to people, in order to re-ignite and enhance the excitement that the torturing of animals used to provide. It’s simply never enough. And do not forget, these horrendous monsters also end up raising their children in “the game”, breeding evil, little sickos to continue on “the trade”… no doubt causing abuse in every level of their lives, as well. It’s just a revolting cycle that will never end until someone gets into it and breaks the heart-wrenching pattern. So, even if an animal is not of your utmost concern, then note that it will not stop there. It is just a start. And it is just a matter of time.

FRANCIS OF ASSISI; “Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.” – MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.; “I hope to make people realize how totally helpless animals are, how dependent on us, trusting as a child must that we will be kind and take care of their needs… (They) are an obligation put on us, a responsibility we have no rights to neglect, nor to violate by cruelty….” – JAMES HARRIOT; “The greatness of a nation & its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated… I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection of man from the cruelty of man.” – MAHATMA GANDHI

  4. Lisbeth Alvarado Sanchez says:

What kind of monsters are capable of doing this to innocent defenseless animals. They should be deprived of food for several weeks so they would know what it feels to starve to death.

  5. Kathy Khoshfahm says:

Bill – you are in a position to hand down to this couple a punishment that fits the crime; I hope you do the right thing here and do just that. Too many times animal abusers/murderer’s are given a light sentence and the horror for the Animal Kingdom continues. They are citizens of this world, too, and they deserve the freedom to live their lives on this Earth free from torture and murder at the hands of humans. Not one innocent creature deserves this type of treatment. Not one…
