Create Public Registry of Animal Abusers

Abuse of Fighting Dog

Target: Washington State Senator Joe Fain

Goal: Support the protection of animals with a public registry listing the names of those convicted of animal abuse.

People in Washington will have access to a list of all animal abusers in the state if a recently proposed bill is passed into law. The bill, sponsored by Republican Sen. Joe Fain, was designed after a law that just went into effect in Tennessee. It will create an online registry of everyone in the state who has been convicted of first or second degree animal cruelty. It also covers animal poisoning and dog fighting.

These kinds of registries are incredibly helpful, as any shelters or individuals hoping to adopt out an animal can check this registry for each potential adopter’s name and photo. This will drastically cut down on the number of repeat offenses that animal abusers can commit while also giving people who have to say goodbye to beloved companion animals peace of mind.

The senate bill comes on the tail of the FBI’s decision to list animal cruelty as a Class A felony. These are strong signs that the U.S. is finally starting to take the problem of animal abuse seriously. To keep this momentum going, animal rights advocates everywhere need to show their support for each positive step. Sign our petition to urge the Washington State legislature to pass this bill.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Senator Fain,

I understand that you’ve recently introduced a bill that would create an online registry for animal abusers in the state of Washington. I wanted to offer my support for your dedication to protecting animals by allowing both shelters and individuals to check the records of potential adopters. This is very likely to cut down on the amount of animal abuse in the state.

It’s great to see that politicians like yourself are finally beginning to take the problem of animal cruelty seriously. Far too many creatures in this nation are exploited and abused by people who view them as little more than punching bags or money machines. In reality, many animals have as much potential to feel pain, suffering, and sadness as human beings.

Thank you for sponsoring this bill. Someone needs to stand up for the animals that cannot speak for themselves. Please use the signatures on this petition to prove to the rest of the Washington State Senate that the bill is widely supported by the people.

Sincerely,

  1. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME ???
HOW CAN YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT KNOWING THESE MONSTERS ARE DOING THIS SHIT TO INNOCENT ANIMALS AND ENJOYING IT ?
YOU NEED A WAKE UP CALL . I WILL NOT BE KIND IN THIS LETTER PLEADING YOU BECAUSE NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO BEG YOU TO NOT PERMIT THESE HORRIFIC ACTS FROM HAPPENING. THESE BASTARDS INFLICTING THIS SHIT ARE NOT HUMANS…YOU HAVE TO HAVE HUMANITY TO BE THAT.
YOU MAKE THIS MONSTEROUS SHIT STOP NOW ! I WISH THE LONGEST AND MOST PAINFUL DEATH TO ALL WHO HAVE INFLICTED THE TORTURE AND MURDER ON THESE ANIMALS AND ALL THOSE WHO HAVE TURNED A BLIND EYE AND PERMITTED THIS.
GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER BECAUSE KARMA IS A BITCH. THESE ARE ANIMALS WITH REAL FEELINGS OF PAIN, AND INTELLIGENCE.
WHAT YOU DONT STOP IS JUST CRIMINAL. GOD HELP YOUR DECISION . YOUR AFTERLIFE IS ALL UP TO YOUR CHOICES…BUT RIGHT NOW YOUR JUST SHIT FOR LETTING THIS HAPPEN AND FORCING PEOPLE TO PLEA TO SAVE THESE ANIMALS WHICH SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN VICTIMS IN THE FIRST PLACE !

You can either turn sorrowfully or
carelessly away from an animal in
distress or summon the courage to run
    forward and help.
We can judge the heart of a person by their treatment of
    animals.

Deby, you sound deeply concerned about the animals. But,
your attack and language against the person the petition is directed towards will only turn them off and label
you as a “nut”. Your anger is justified but your message will not get through.

This Senator is trying to do something very positve for
the animals of Washington. Applaud his efforts.

    • David Lavery says:

People who harm animals have no compassion and no humanity, they do deserve a death sentence.

    • sandra mason says:

come one Deby… at least someone is trying here… let’s wait and get mad if it fails…which I hope like hell it won’t. if Tennessee can do it, everybody should be able to. my biggest fear is that it will be so widespread that it could become impossible to control. people are disgusting.

This is a good beginning. It should be all over the world
