Denounce Sushi Boss Who Paid Thousands for Endangered Tuna

Target: Kiyoshi Kimura, President of Sushi-Zanmai

Goal: Criticize Kiyoshi Kimura for paying more than $117,000 for a giant bluefin tuna, an endangered species, at an auction so he can use the innocent dead fish for sushi dishes.

At an auction, Kiyoshi Kimura, the president of the sushi restaurant chain Sushi-Zanmai, paid more than $117,000 for a 200 kg bluefin tuna, which is an endangered species. Kimura then displayed the dead animal at one of his restaurants.

The auction where Kimura bid on the fish is a New Year tradition at Tokyo’s Tsukiji fish market, where bidders pay big money for the honor of getting the first fish of the year.

Japan is the world’s largest consumer of bluefin tuna, causing environmentalists to call for the country to place a trade ban on the species as it heads towards extinction. The population of Pacific bluefin tuna is declining and is in danger of staying that way unless dramatic measures are implemented to save the fish.

Criticize Kiyoshi Kimura for encouraging the decline of this beautiful, endangered creature by paying money to display its dead body rather than using that money for better causes, like preserving the species.

Dear Mr. Kimura,

You recently paid over $100,000 for the body of a dead tuna so you can display it and later use it in sushi dishes. I’m sure you know that this innocent creature is endangered and faces possible extinction, but you chose to encourage the death of this species anyway.

With the way things are going for this tuna species, it will no longer exist. It’s vital that instead of encouraging the demise of these animals, we work to protect them and discourage others from viewing them as disposable commodities. You should be ashamed, and I hope you use this as a lesson to help animals in the future instead of contributing to their extinction.
