Target: Anchorage, Alaska District Attorney Clinton M. Campion
Goal: Issue maximum punishment to former Miss Kansas for the alleged illegal killing of an Alaska grizzly bear and for attempting to cover up the crime.
Former Miss Kansas and host of an adventure show on the Outdoor Channel, Theresa Vail was charged for allegedly killing a male Alaska grizzly bear without having a state bear tag (only a single bear tag, according to investigators), then attempting to cover up her crime. The investigators said she shot the bear and then fired another shot in an attempt to kill it, but instead, she ended up fatally shooting another bear—a sow grizzly.
Vail is also accused of signing and backdating a large game tag record so that it would look like she purchased the tag before she shot the bear. Two other people are accused of allegedly conspiring with Vail and going to great lengths to help her cover the disgusting crime.
This woman seems irresponsible as a hunter and her alleged dishonesty shows a lack of respect for the animals she reportedly killed. Demand she be given the maximum penalty possible for allegedly taking the life of a bear, then going to shocking lengths to cover up the killing.
Dear Mr. Campion,
Theresa Vail is accused of illegally shooting and killing a male Alaska bear (and in an attempt to fire a second shot at the bear, she hit and killed a second one) while hunting the poor animals. Instead of taking responsibility for her terrible mistake, she reportedly went to the extent to commit even more crimes to cover the killing up, and had the help of two other people in conspiring to cover up the crime.
This lack of responsibility and respect for animals makes this woman unworthy of having the privilege to hunt and kill innocent animals. We urge you to help ensure she receives the maximum penalty possible for her alleged bear-killing and dishonest crimes.
