Shut Down Cruel Pig Slaughterhouse

Target: U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack

Goal: Shut down high-speed slaughterhouse revealed to be torturing pigs in undercover video footage.

An investigation into a slaughterhouse in Minnesota revealed horrific abuse of pigs. The undercover video shot by a Compassion Over Killing investigator at the Quality Pork Processors (QPP) Austin high-speed slaughterhouse showed employees beating pigs with paddles and electrical prods, improperly stunning them and even hanging them upside-down by a hook taking them up the slaughter line while fully conscious.

Not only is the facility treating the pigs it slaughters cruelly and inhumanely, the investigation revealed conditions that would make anyone think twice about consuming processed meat. Pigs were shown being sent down the slaughter line to be “processed” covered in feces or pus-filled abscesses.

The ForceChange community recently called on processed meats supplier Hormel to stop purchasing from this inhumane facility, as it is one of QPP’s major clients, and this move might encourage others to do the same. While QPP assured customers its pigs were treated “appropriately,” since the video became public the facility has claimed it will try to clean up its act. But how do we know that QPP won’t simply go back to torturing its pigs as soon as it is out of the spotlight?

As long as this facility is still in operation, pigs will continue to suffer horrific abuse. Sign this petition urging the U.S. Department of Agriculture to shut down this cruel slaughterhouse for good.

Dear Mr. Vilsack,

The Quality Pork Processors (QPP) high-speed slaughterhouse in Austin, Minnesota recently came under fire following reports of horrific abuse on pigs. Videos showed pigs being beaten, improperly stunned, dragged across the floor with hooks, and sometimes even hung upside-down and sent fully conscious to be processed.

Shots also revealed pigs with pus-filled abscesses or covered in feces being sent down the slaughter line. Aside from being guilty of animal cruelty, this facility also severely threatens consumer health and safety.

QPP has since claimed it will try to clean up its act, but who’s to say that once out of the public eye, the facility won’t go back to its unsafe and inhumane ways? The only way to ensure pigs are never again tortured at this facility and no consumers become ill from meat coming out of its unsanitary processing line is to close it down for good. I urge you to take action and ensure this horrific facility be shut down.

  2. yes–the plight of the pigs has been another horrific evil dominating the earth–but evil must be resisted in entirety–too many of scum human race–but look at what they do to chldren–and what they do everywhere–i am afraid that if they treat so many of their children so horrendously then what hope for the pigs?–for any of us?–my website provides full evidence on evil–put BOGMAN PALMJAGUAR into google.

  3. Yet more abuse, despite the ad campaigns enforcing beliefs in USA and Britain that we should eat more, more and more meat it is clear that either at the ‘production plants’ or abattoirs there is little humanity in the cold death and life shown to animals?

Don’t count on Tom to do much….not sure why we have a United States Department of Agriculture. Every state has one, too. Animal Welfare is a division…investigate and see what they do….they license those horrible puppy mills for one thing. This is where you can find the laws in your state regarding companion animals, and farm animals. Laws, you say??? Dog fighting is LEGAL in most states, chicken fighting is also.’ll probably have to call them to get directions to where the ANIMAL WELFARE division is. They seem to move it around so it’s near impossible to find it if you go to their web site. Good luck.

  5. if an animal is going to be slaughtered do it humanely. Don’t allow anyone to
torture these animals just because they can. These animals are already going
to die a horrible death. There needs to be honest, trustworthy people watching the plant to make sure these animals are humanely slaughtered.
