Target: Joel Manby, SeaWorld CEO
Goal: Boycott all SeaWorld-owned parks until SeaWorld retires all their sea animals to sanctuaries.
Thank to the release of “Blackfish,” attendance at SeaWorld parks has been dropping in recent years. This is mainly due to the concerns for the animals’ health and well being. Animals at SeaWorld are forced to live in small, cramped and unnatural conditions. This is at the expense of the animals’ mental and physical health. The USDA has warned and documented SeaWorld several times for failures to take notice of these health concerns. In addition to all this horror, some of the Orcas have been taken from the wild. Thankfully now-a-days, people are aware of the cruelty that goes on behind the scenes at SeaWorld.
What many people don’t know is that SeaWorld owns other parks. Some of these parks house animals such as other sea animals, African wildlife and domestic animals. In order for SeaWorld to truly lose their profits, they must lose funds from their other parks. SeaWorld owns all the following parks:
Adventure Island; Tampa, Florida
Aquatica Orlando; Orlando, Florida
Aquatica San Antonio; San Antonio, Texas
Aquatica San Diego; Chula Vista, California
Busch Gardens Tampa; Tampa, Florida
Busch Gardens Williamsburg; Williamsburg, Virginia
Discovery Cove; Orlando, Florida
Sesame Place; Langhorne, Pennsylvania
Water Country USA; Williamsburg, Virginia
Sign this petition below and tell SeaWorld’s CEO that you will boycott all of their parks until they retire all their sea animals to accredited sanctuaries. These animals have been forced to play tricks for human entertainment for much too long.
Dear Mr. Joel Manby,
As you are aware, attendance at the SeaWorld parks has been on the decline since the release of the documentary “Blackfish.” Thankfully, people are now aware of the small, cramped and unnatural conditions SeaWorld’s animals live in. These conditions cause mental and physical health problems. The USDA has warned your park multiple times about their failures to address these health problems. This is just unacceptable.
Although attendance has declined at SeaWorld parks, your company still makes money by people’s attendance at other parks that SeaWorld owns. Most people are unaware that SeaWorld owns these parks. Now, people are starting to learn.
I am writing to you to tell you that I will be boycotting all the parks that SeaWorld owns, not just SeaWorld exclusively. This boycott will happen until you release all of your sea animals to accredited sanctuaries. These animals have been forced to play tricks for humans for too long. It is time they live the life they are meant to live.
