Investigate Owner for Allegedly Leaving Dog With Abusive Pet Sitter

Target: Barb Downen and the rest of the Houston, Texas SPCA Investigation Team

Goal: Investigate owner for allegedly leaving special needs animal with a neglectful and abusive pet sitter.

A dog was allegedly left all day on a balcony wearing a diaper and with something tied around its mouth by the person who was watching it. We need to take action to try and ensure this dog will be safe from any abuse in the future.

Although Amber Cammack claimed such abuse was taking place and even supposedly took pictures of the dog suffering, nobody immediately came out to check on the animal when she reported the incident. Even worse, it was thought that the dog was left on the balcony for such extensive periods of time in the past, the downstairs neighbor’s porch having been previously covered with the animal’s waste.

Shockingly, both the SPCA and other investigators affiliated with the district attorney’s office eventually checked on the dog and said that no abuse had been taking place. In fact, when Karess Buckman–the dog’s owner–explained to authorities that the dog wore a diaper because it had ‘lose stools,’ her explanation was readily accepted by investigators and the district attorney.

It is likely that the owner knew the dog was a special needs animal before going away. Therefore, if the owner was aware the animal had a problem with ‘loose stools,’ he or she should have made sure a pet sitter was able to stay with the animal at all times.

Urge the SPCA to try and locate this dog’s owner and to investigate the case more thoroughly to ensure the dog is not being constantly abused. Treating any animal in this manner is sickening and uncalled for.

Dear Ms. Downen,

A dog allegedly suffered under the hands of an abusive pet sitter. It is important that the owner of the dog be investigated to make sure it is not subjected to such abuse on a daily basis.

Amber Cammack reportedly took pictures of the dog with something tied around its mouth and with the dog wearing a diaper. In addition, it was thought that in the past the dog had been left on the balcony for so long, the downstairs neighbor’s balcony was at one time covered with the animal’s waste.

If there is any possibility that the dog’s owner knew the dog had a problem with ‘loose stools’ like the pet sitter claimed, he or she could have made more suitable arrangements for the animal by choosing a round the clock pet sitter.

I therefore urge you to find and investigate the owner of this dog and to seize the animal if any abuse is found to be taking place. If aspects of this case are not explored, this animal may soon suffer from a great amount of neglect and abuse.

  1. This Scum of a Dog sitter should have the same treatment !!!

  2. This poor dog needs to be taken to a vet and not just wear a diaper all day! The SPCA should confiscate this dog from its ignorant owner and charge her with cruelty!

  3. Karess Buckman doesn’t deserve to own a dog.

  4. Wendy Morrison says:

This ABUSIVE pet sitter needs to charged with ANIMAL ABUSE and CRUELTY and put in a prison cell with a diaper on and gagged too!!!!

  5. Candice Spangler says:

Clear case of animal abuse. Needs some jail time.

  6. Catherine Dugan says:

Not only should the dog sitter be held responsible, but the owner should too. That poor dog needs help instead of being left on the balcony in a diaper and unable to bark. I feel the dog sitter is not a nice person and doesn’t do her job, very well. She should not be aloud to be near pets, if she leaves them to fend for themselves.

  7. Raouchala Reda: Are you kidding or are you crazy? Just because the dog has a roof over his head and food does NOT excuse animal abuse–EVER, regardless of the fact that some animals may face even worse cruelty!

The pet sitter and, apparently, the owner are guilty of inhumane treatment, and should be thoroughly investigated and punished, accordingly!

The authorities are not doing their jobs!

  8. Natasha polychuk Natasha polychuk says:

who the fuck would hire this moron asshole

  9. We must protect our animals from all forms of abuse — we must be their voice — animals should always be under the care of those who respect & love them — they deserve nothing less — let’s ensure this dog is in a good & caring environment.
