Stop Maiming and Amputating Live Animals for Military Exercises

Target: Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin

Goal: End the use of animals for military training exercises and transition to more humane and effective alternatives.

Animals are often used for military training exercises, such as medical training and explosives detection, causing them to endure physical and emotional trauma. These exercises involve live tissue training, where animals are subjected to wounds, amputations, and other forms of abuse. These cruel and unnecessary practices not only harm animals but also do not provide effective training for military personnel.

To combat the use of animals for military training exercises, it is crucial to raise awareness about the harms of this practice and push for the adoption of alternatives, such as medical simulators and computer models. These provide more accurate training scenarios and do not cause harm to animals.

Furthermore, the use of animals for military training exercises is inconsistent with the values of a civilized society that respects the lives and welfare of all living beings. As the head of the Department of Defense, it is essential that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin takes action to adopt ethical and effective methods of training that do not rely on animal abuse. By transitioning to more humane alternatives, we can ensure that military training is effective while also demonstrating a commitment to animal welfare and ethical practices.

Sign the below petition to urge Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to take action to end the use of animals for military training exercises and ensure the humane and effective training of military personnel.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Secretary of Defense Austin,

I am writing to urge you to take action to end the use of animals for military training exercises. The practice of subjecting animals to physical and emotional trauma during live tissue training is cruel and unnecessary. These practices not only harm animals but also do not provide effective training for military personnel.

There are various animals that have been used for military training exercises. For example, goats and pigs have been used for medical training exercises where they are subjected to wounds and amputations. Dogs have been used for explosives detection training, and some animals, such as mice and monkeys, have been used in weapons testing. However, it’s important to note that the use of animals in military training exercises is becoming less common due to the availability of  more humane alternatives such as medical simulators and computer models.

I urge you to end the use of animals for military training exercises and transition to more humane and effective alternatives for the training of military personnel. Thank you for your attention to this important issue.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

How can the government use our tax money to inflict pain and who knows what else on defenseless animals. There is absolutely no justification for this cruelty. Great example of animal cruelty the government is condoning. How can we eradicate animal cruelty when our federal government continues to bless it ?

  19. It is hard to believe that all these years later we are still dealing with the military using live animals in its training. Knowing this information makes it easy for the public to see just how Evil the Government is. How does one have respect for our Military after learning of their cruel and inhumane methods of training using live animals? Sickening to say the least especially when there are alternatives.
