No, this is misleading. In my experience, any training is done while the animal is under general anesthesia. My experience is that it is all done respectfully and humanely. I am an animal lover too. The training implemented under anesthesia provides invaluable skills required in the field on behalf of our troops. Animals never feel or experience a thing.

I have been protesting this abuse for over 20 years. Once I saw a training video on this sickening practice I could not believe at the cruelty and primitive methods used..Axes and garden shears were used to chop off limbs of semi conscious animals
As a combat veteran (11B Infantry) I do not agree with these practices, as they are very unnecessary. Nothing is gained and much is lost.
