Target: University of California-Davis veterinary radiologist specialist, Dr. Erik Wisner
Goal: Thank university veterinarians for caring for animals that were badly burned in two wildfire incidents.
Valley fires in Northern California destroyed over 70,000 acres of land, which left a lot of residents and pets in critical condition. The fire spread so quickly that a lot of people barely had enough time to evacuate. Now, University of California, Davis veterinarians are treating the numerous pets that were badly burned during that and another Northern California wildfire case.
The veterinarian hospital has received about 40 cats and a few dogs, horses, chickens, and pigs. This type of accident involves a lot of careful treatment and nursing care to give the animals a speedy recovery. The hospital stated to the press that they are not used to seeing this huge amount of burn victims, so these animals required the full medical staff to lend a hand.
The University of California, Davis is providing care for the animals free of charge to the owners. Instead, they are asking for donations from the public to help cut down the costs. The animals that are better, but are unclaimed by their owners, will be immediately placed into shelters for adoption. The extremely busy veterinarian medical center was full after the fires took place, but they still have many injured animals coming in on a daily basis.
Please sign this petition to thank the veterinarian medical staff of UC Davis for giving these animals proper treatment and care and doing it free of charge.
Dear Dr. Erik Wisner,
Natural wildfires claim the lives of thousands of animals every year. When animal victims of the latest two Northern California wildfires needed help, your team at the University of California, Davis veterinarian hospital came to the rescue.
On top of that, you are treating the animals for free. The majority of these animals are so badly burned that they need constant treatment. Even though your staff is at full capacity, you still find a way to treat the endless amount of animals that need veterinarian care.
We thank you and your veterinarian team at UC Davis for your generosity. So many animals are rescued, but are then abandoned when these types of accidents occur. Thank you for stepping in and making a difference in these animals’ lives.
